The snap ring can be taken out by getting a small needle nose pliers, a set that is small enough to fit into the two holes of the snap ring. Squeeze it as hard as you can and pull it out at the same time, if it still won't budge, you can squeeze and use a movement like "hammer taking out a nail" and it should pop out.
As for syncros, I think it's cheaper to get find a junk yard with a 240 in there and buy a transmission from there. Replacing syncros usually require a transmission rebuild which could be quite costly, even more so then a SR20DET.
As for the amount of gear oil... there's a fill plug on the side of the transmission that is a pretty large square bolt. if you are looking up at the transmission and you are lined up with the drive line, the plug should be to the right side of the transmission about half way up. Just open that and any excess gear oil will leak out and when no more gear oil comes out of that hole, that means you've got the right level of gear oil. But if you must know the exact, from the FSM it is exactly 2.5 qts for a 93 manual and auto takes about 4.5 qts. I'm sure the trannys for 91+ are all the same. Hope this helps
