Grinding 3rd gear and gas petal not working!

I have a 2003 350z and 2 months ago my engine check light went on and my gas petal wouldn't work when i first started the car. I would have to wait a while and try again. It started working about a month or more ago, but now i have a new problem, when i downshift it into 3rd gear it grinds (just a little). But it happens only the first time i downshift into third. After that it works fine. Is it the problem with the fluids flowing? Is my transmission just gone?

are you bringing the revs up as you down shift? sounds like a syncro problem, likely got jamed in too many times on the upshift, but if you can't live with it it's a costly rebuild as they'll beed to inspect andmeasure every part to ensure they fix the problem, or maybe you cna find a use dtrans from a total cheap, and if you havn't already try running a full synnthetic gear oil and see if it improves

as for the gas pedal, it's drive by wire and that scares me, you might want to have the codes read by a tech

Thanks, i do rev it up when i downshift. I'm guess that's not a good thing to do. I've heard people that own a 2003 350z have had problems with their transmission and had to have it replaced. thanks tho, this helps. I just better go see a professional mechanic before i touch my car!
