The biggest thing stopped me from trading my Mustang for a Z32 is the one I'm looking at makes a grind when the clutch is engaged.
From a stop in 1st gear it grinds when the clutch is engaged. Almost sounds like a grinding trans that the synchros are going out of. It only seems to do it in first from a stop. The owner also said that it won't speed shift without grinding. If I need to rebuild it or buy a new one how much would I be looking to spend?

If it matters the clutch is a carbon/carbon twin disc.

Little more info. The TOB is making some noise and he said that it has been this way since the day he got it. So I would think that rules out synchros. Could there be something wrong with the clutch or pressure plate that is causing this?

Thanks,
Sawyer

Could be that the clutch was installed wrong. If you are looking for prices on Z32 clutches, you should try our NiCO sponsors in the marketplace.

Another note is the clutch engages almost at the end of the pedal travel. And the pedal is very soft.

Sounds like you need to look at the clutch master cylinder (it's the smaller of the two, located on the engine-side of the firewall in front of the driver). Rebuild or replace the master cylinder and then bleed the lines. That should solve your squishy-pedal issue and might solve the grind as well.

Well the trade deal fell through so this is being put on hold indefinitely until we can come to an agreement. But if we do figure something out I'd like to know how I can fix this ASAP. Another tid bit of info is that it has a "J-Spec" engine and trans. Not sure if that might be causing this if the swap wasn't done right etc. Thanks for the info though.

gear grind can usually be fixed by replacing the transmission fluid with redline, or another quality one. imo you have bigger problems. id steer away from the car because of the jspec engine though. unless it was done right, which it almost never is, the thing is a ticking time bomb ready to blow something. if you want a tt, best bet is to just buy an original tt.
