The grey wire has no shielding. I think you tapped the wrong wire.

Omit the grey wire if its a series 2 swap, it belongs for a series 1 motor. It is an external power for the injectors. You're welcome-Alex

its not thick gauge, just like all other 18 gauge wires. About the same size as anyother on the rb. Theres a large blck connector with a large gauge red, red/blue wire plus some others comin out. about 8 wires, the grey wire is the injector wire, tap it to the 12 volt ignition

The plug is in the engine bay side of the wiring. It should be with the wires for the O2 Sensor, Maf and the boost solenoid. Like said above, its a big 8pin plug, should have 7 wires on it though(i think).

The lower harness used has nothing to do with it.

You could find out where the wire goes and tap into it around the ECU area, that's what i plan on doing eventually to minimize the connections and extra plugs in the engine bay. I found out about it after i had fed my wires through the firewall and covered most of them.
