Turned my car over yesterday and notice a fair bit of dark grey-ish smoke coming from the exhaust. Is this normal for a Y34?

I get the same thing in my '04 M45. I get blue-black & grayish smoke at start-up. I don't know how bad a sign that is, gotta see how the rest of the crew weighs-in on it.

I would give it some good, hard WOT's and see if it clears things up. If not, then BG-44K and, if that does not cure it, an injector rail flush.

You are either burning oil (is the level dropping? Read it every morning ... cold engine), or might have carbon deposits that need to be cleaned out.

It's had it's fair share of WOT runs over the past three months plus a 44K treatment. I haven't been checking the oil but I'll start. Damn, I may just have two oil-burners in the garage

My 04 does the same thing about 1 out of every 10 starts. I haven't really done anything about it since it only happens every once in awhile.
