First off, I have a 2003 Maxima SE, 120k miles, 800 miles on a fresh oil change, and I noticed gray smoke coming out of the exhaust this morning. It smokes just a little (barely visible) at idle and a good puff comes out when I rev the engine. Its a gray/ black smoke, so i think it's unburned fuel. The SES light came on for a day or so last month but went off before i could get the code read. The car still runs good. It had trouble cranking yesterday, but once its running it runs normal. Any ideas? The oil level looks correct too, but im gonna go double check when it settles.

Well it does sound like it's running rich, but I don't know for sure. This is something I would personally take to the shop, especially a fuel problem, just because it's not a mod, should be cheap and easy. At least find out what the problem is.

Thanks for the reply. Just a couple of other thoughts; I was parked on a nose down incline this morning and it was humid last night, and I just put a tank of 93 in from a crappy cheap gas station. I checked a second ago and the oil level was fine, revved her real good once and a decent little puff came out. After that there wasn't any smoke during medium revving. Im gonna go out and check on Pearl again shortly.
