gremlins in my wiring
hello i just bought a datsun 720 dual cab ute and for some reason i cant get my taillights to work as the set up if for a single stop tail globe i have replaced this and i get brake lights as long as my head lights are not on if i turn them on i dont get brake lights or tail light can someone help me find this gremlin

It might actually be the wiper stalk itself. Or something grounding out from miswiring.

^^^^this. The Headlights turn on the and the brake lights turn off sounds like a faulty switch to me.
Checking grounds are always first and foremost, free always beats throwing parts at something.
