mechanicly...i have no issues...i can fix most anything and know how to strip and prep/rebuild blocks all day long...but electricly...im a dumb a r s e...

so here is my never ending nightmare.....

few weeks ago i experienced a random shut off on the freeway...waited a while..and it started rite up and drove fine...few days later...it shut off randomly every 15 minutes...now she will start and only run for about 10 mins before shutting off like you turned off the key...now power throu the ignition system....

this is what i have done to try and find the issue..

replaced igniter chipreplaced coilreplaced msd box.replaced all grounds on engine harness.resoldered all connections on harness.replaced MAf.replaced dizzy.replaced ecu 3 times.replaced all fusable links.replaced TPS.replaced engine coolent temp sensor.

i thought this might be some sort of safe mode...but after changine everything i could think of..it still happens...i inspected my engine harness wire by wire under magnification..no issues...if anyone has had a simmilar problem..please..point me in the rite direction...im F'N lost..lol..thanks in advance..

This might pertain to your problem.
jdansmith wrote: I found this posted on a auto forum, don't know if it will help.for all you folks that have a nissan that runs and dies check the ignition coil mounting bracket to see if you have a transistor control module mounted on it it could be a 2 or 1 plug module they work thru your computer and will cause ignition problems when bad, new cost from $115 at auto parts stores to over $200 at a dealer i replaced 3 already solved the problems of running and dying

I would have thought it to be a relay contact burning up myself. I would think one of the ignition relays that give power to the ECU. I would inspect relays for heat marking and sockets.

Don't count out the ECU. Could be a transistor heating up that overheats after some time.

There are two relay foxed under the hood, and one 3 relays that would affect it. ECCS, Fuel pump on the pass isde, and accessory relay 2 on the drivers. Under the dash are more relays, the ignition relay and accessory relay. (drivers side)

I would think a loose connections, relay or device going open.

There are also interlock relays, and inhibit relays. Check the FSM EL section for starting system, and then harness layout.

ill do another check on the relay connections and pull the intire underdash harness out...but im thinking of buying another harness and a spankin new dizzy just to rule out those..wouldn't mind a new dizzy anyways...thanks for the imput.

thanks man...but tested that when it happens and i get power to the ignition wire (black w/white stripe) kinda faded but looks white..anyways..thats not the culprit for shur...i am however planning a push button mod to get rid of that anyways in the future..as im going to install a (IdidIt) brand aluminum steering column....cant wait for the cash for this mod...its really gona set off the inside of the car...but i do thank you for your imput aswell.

Do you have an aftermarket alarm that has starter and fuel pump disable? An alarm that tries to arm itself with the ignition on may be cuttin' your ignition power and fuel. Just a thought.
