To avoid posting in a locked thread I made a new one to comment on it.

The number of convertable 240s produced is less then the number of DeLoreans produced of over the same amount of time. There were only 8583 deloreans ever made,2 were gold plated

So seeing how there were only 8320 verts ever produced it makes them more rare then the DeLorean. How come we arent getting 20K to 40k for our cars???? What makes it even better for the 240 vert owner is the likely hood of past ones to end up at the wrecker and dismantled. Reducing the amount still in circulation.

Because our car isn't a TIME MACHINE... duh!

I predict that the value of our cars will increase... especially with the silly drift craze and the FF movies, etc....

Hey Nistech... you listed your car in the registry as having a 6spd.... Is that with an S15 SR20 trans? How did you pull it off? Tell me more please!!!

350z trans. I am attempting a write up on it but I am weak at conveying processes in writing so its takin awhile. Needless to say its costly and due to the body size of the trans serious tunnel mods are needed.

The simple answer? It's Japanese.

The convertible was based off a production car that numbered in the hundreds of thousands. The Deloreon was based off no other car and looked like no other car on the road. Also, it was a small company that only made one car. And when they originally sold, sold for a lot of money.

Seriously. Most of the cars were bought by well to do middle aged men for their mistresses or trophy wives to drive around. They saved the BMWs for their daughters.

I suppose if some head exec of Nissan in charge of the project could have gotten himself caught on cocaine or other drug charges relating to the development of the convertible, the value might go up.

But the simplest answer is, it's a cheap Japanese car that surrounded no mystique or aura except to a few people who own one.

BTW: Did you know Deloreon is still selling cars?http://www.delorean.com/remanufactured.asp

Yea I was just kidding AZ I know the value of the 240 would never make it there. Besides most of us like driving the car where as most deloreas are kept garaged out of site so they arent seen as much. I was researching the delorean over the weekend and came across the places that rebuild the car adding more modern options to them.

The Delorean's got 12 more years on the 240. A lot can happen.
