Hello everyone. I recently entered the "guy searching for the right car" stage of my life and I have been interested in 350z's ever since they came out. I was talking to a guy at work about my interest in this car and he said that I am not allowed to drive this car without knowing what exactly it is that I'm driving and suggested that I come here and learn more about the cars internals before I go out and purchase one. I found this idea genius and do not want to be called a rich prick that knows nothing about his car and just payed as much as the dealership was asking for. So, where do you all suggest I head next to start learning about, what i hope to be, my future car?

Brandon

*edit* didn't load the z forums, would a mod mind moving this over there?

What year Z are you looking for?

As of right now, probably looking for what's best for the budget and offers the best options. Probably won't go new seeing as there are great deals on used ones in my area.

Good for you man, car's are a good hobby to get into. Are you def. set with the 350z? I personally think there's just too many on the road, which is why i went the skyline route .. but if you're mind is set than go for it. As for handling the car, it's just like anything else, except most likely has more power than what you are used too. Might take you a few tries getting used to the clutch if you're not used to a manual. It doesn't come turbocharged either, so it's really nothing too special.
My next toy is probably going to be the Evo, but good luck with whatever you do.

We'd love to help you get the right ride, but there are some questions to answer...

Are you looking for one as a daily/sporty driver? A weekend toy/weekend getaway vehicle? Do you plan on doing extensive modifications or are you content to let it stay fairly stock? What's the weather & climate like where you are? Can you get by with having not a lot of cargo space and only two seats?

350's are a decent buy as the price has dropped over the past few years (especially since the 370 came out). You can get an early one from the 2002-2006 era pretty cheap, but if you can swing it I'd recommend getting one from 2007-08 with the newer HR version of the VQ35 engine.

Welcome to NICO! (and hopefully to the Z family!) :badger

There are so many more Z's than Skylines because the Z is a federally legal vehicle. I personally think that a Skyline isn't a very good idea, unless of course you've got one from Motorex with a DOT Release Bond. I'd hate to be constantly wondering when DHS was going to come and take my car away. ;)

Then there's the issue of getting parts for a vehicle that was never available in the US.

I'm all about the rb motors, so it's worth it to me. And i also know people who can bring in R32's and get them on the road legally all day. You def. get a lot more attention than you want from the cops though, but that is the same with any sports car.
Getting parts for this thing can be pretty annoying depending on what it is... might take a week or two to get it to ya.

Back to you're car choice.. like badger said, it depends on what you plan on doing whether you race the thing or just daily drive it. 350z's are nice though for either, so you can't really go wrong.

forget what sluggoZ said. If you have a question, than feel free to ask it b.c I've been in your position where you need a fast response. There will always be people who are more than happy to answer simple questions, but just ignore the ignorant people who post useless s***.
