Greetings, my name is Packrat and I hail from http://www.nissanexa.comI drive a Kn13 pulsar with the ca18de under the hood. I am about to go through the ca18det swap for this thing and came across this website as i searched google.I am here for pointers, tips, and any other funitude that may come about :-DU guys have any pulsar drivers on this forum?I want to get the ca18det with the top mount intercooler from the u12 to drop into my car. As i have never messed about with turbo's before does anyone have any good pointers, tech tips, equipment, etc...about owning/tuning a turbo ca?Just so you know i built this car, so i do know my way around the DE motor.thanks in advance,Rat

Welcome!

Read up on the info in the sticky threads at the top of the page, that should get you started! We do have some knowledgeable Pulsar owners here, I'm sure they'll chime in.

It should be a relatively straight forward swap. You might need to do some minor wiring and a little exhaust work, but since your existing chassis has got a CA18DE in it, you should be basically good to go.

Then only thing I'd be worried about is that top-mount with your stock, scoop-less, hood. You won't be getting any airflow to that intercooler with the stock hood, so I'd recommend either getting a hood with a scoop, or going to a FMIC.

Welcome to NICO "Packrat182" ,

I too am a member on http://www.nissanexa.com, but i haven't done much posting in years on that forum. I don't quite own a pulsar, but I do own a B12 sentra which shares nearly the same chasis with the pulsar, if that helps a bit. It's good that your knowledge of the DE is sufficient because the same techniques can be applied to the DET as well.

I also started out with an AWD CA18DET w/TMIC and let me just tell you that thing is worhtless. If your engine set does not come with a harness and ecu, then you have several options. You can either have your DET computer done by Jim wolf technology, you can use and S13 CA18DET sylvia/180sx/200sx harness and ecu (if you know what you're doing), or you can simply go standalone engine management which is by far the most flexible and trouble-free way, but to some that maybe argumentative.

You can use your KN13 mounts, but you will eat them up like you would do ice cream as they are not strong enough to constantly support the added torque. You can use your stock CA18DE transmission and axles as well as your flywheel, but you will have to upgrade the clutch system. It is very imporant that you put the necessary gauges on the vehicle to monitor critical engine component functions such as boost gauge, oil pressure gauge, and even a fuel pressure gauge.

You will definitely need to upgrade your fuel pump. A walbro unit for an S13 chasis will do just fine. As for any upgrades, there's tons of information here on this forum, so you search til your heart's content. The biggest thing on this forum as opposed to most is that whatever you're looking for or need to know, has more than likely been covered. So again, welcome to NICO and hopefully we can help you get to where you want to be.

Hey dude!

These guys brought up a few things i forgot to tell you about.

One being the fuel pump. Other than an s13 pump a Z32 TT pump will work to and can support 500+hp of fuel flow.

Filling the motor mounts with 3M window weld is a quick easy solution that works just as good as expensive poly mounts.
