Greetings to you all from New Zealand.

"We" have built a classic American Mahogany planked hull speedboat based on a Hacker design.

We plan to power it with a Q45 which I have just purchased. The first question I have which I am sure will be the first of many is "can one of the resident experts please tell me what the engine only weighs".

Thanking you in anticipation, Smokin Joe.

It's been done down under with a built up twin turbo chargesd et-up.

It's the guys who boost all the Fords and Holdens. I'll check my emails and see if I can find their name. Think they are in Queensland, but I could be wrong.

Welcome to NICO. I guess we'll have to start a boating section. Check out the VH/VK engine forum.

Ok. To answer your Question,

It's been said that the VH45DE weighs around 500 lbs. That's what I read when Tangalora was exploring engine hoist options.
