Anyone seen this bio-based oil? While I'm all for the environment, I'm afraid to put this in my car.

They are offering a free 5 quart bottle in 5W-30 with a rebate when purchased at Walmart.

Someone want to be the guinea pig?

Not a fan.

I'd have a VERY hard time trusting this stuff too:

I mean, I KNOW its synthetic and its great that they're recycling used oil and all.... but maybe I'm just getting old and think- theres NO WAY I'm trusting this stuff with my engine.

I don't care about oil dependency or about "saving the earth" because the first is business -offer and demand deals- and the scond a myth.

But, I will take the coupon and use this oil in my old truck..because the synthetic oil according to the ad, is FREE! :chuckle:

Kinda hard to try out their oil when they don't offer 5-20.

As far as being comfortable using it in my car...It's the oil itself that matters to me, not whether it's recycled or not. You can compare two non-recycled oils on the shelf and may find one to be better than the other...that still holds true when the oil's recycled.

If theyre going to make oil out of old oil it ought to be a lot cheaper.

^^^ AGREED! I bet the refining is more costly than mining and refining the original stuff.

Agreed, i'm not paying that kind of money for something recycled. Although I don't think i'd even consider running that crap in any of my vehicles, even if it were 50% cheaper than conventional motor oil.
