hey Daunt, just curious but in your opinion what's the best turbo for the money to buy that'll boost between 10-18lbs of psi decently?I"m still stuck debaiting on SR or KAT :D

Oh and I hope you pass that thing soon man, I know that's rough

yea, good luck on that damn accounting test dauntt....;)

depending on which motor you chose, your going to have a different selection of recommended turbo's..

also what your using the car for, ie. autocross, drag, daily driving, is going to have a big affect on what can be recommended...

Your going to have to give him a lot more details than just that question....and try to make the man think too hard, he's hurting.

Yeah, throw in the details that DSM asked for. I need money, horsepower goals, what the car will be used for, if you want the stock manifold, if you're going SR or KA, blah blah blah blah blah. I don't work well with vague questions, especially when i"m doped up. : )

lol sorry man I just woke up a few minutes ago so I'm only running on 2 cylenders : )

Ok it'll be a daily driver and I'll have around $5,000 to spend and I'd like to get anywhere around 250 or 275 hp after the turbo on stock internals if that's possible. How much would an aftermarket manifold run me? I'd rather have aftermarket anyway. And this will be on KA. I dunno if the stock internals can handle that much but they're in excellent condition so if I could get away without replacing them I'd be happy. For now anyway lol

you can have 250hp to the wheels easily on an sr, without upgradeing the turbo...stock sr20det, boost controller, larger intercooler, exhaust, and you will be close to the 250 rwhp # w/ 14psi of boost.

ka, you would need to build the motor (i guess you can run 6psi w/out upgradeing if you choose) manifold, turbo, lines, a lot of work, exhaust, boost controller, intercooler, accesorries, etc...

That's true, but the 240 is the only vehicle I have to actively drive. If I do the SR swap I can't afford the downtime it would take to repair anything that goes wrong. Say the water pump goes out. There's no way I could wait so long for the part, let alone then the time it takes to install the thing.

If I keep the KA if something goes wrong I can just go down to the autozone or advance and get the part or have it ordered in a day or two.

An SR with SAFC, ECU, FMIC, downpipe, and exhaust, @14psi will make from 230-240hp (at least that's what I've seen down here on the dyno's) KAT with the Nsport kit is advertised at like 245hp but the ones I've seen all made around 230-235.

If you do a KA just run somthing like an O trim To4E with a 60trim compressor and an on center housing. That seems to fit the best on the revhard manifold. You could go with a T3/T4 but IMHO it's too small and your EGT's would be higher due to the increase in backpressure.

On an SR or CA a T3/T4 would be about perfect, go with like a stage III exhaust and a 50trim compressor.

With upgraded fuel and the turbo's I mentioned any of these motors would do 350HP on stock internals.

I've been told that to run 14psi on the stock T25 on the SR20, you need to upgrade the fuel system (i.e. pump, filter, injectors). Is there any truth to this? (don't bother answering Daunt, you're the one that told me :)

I called Greddy about the 240SX turbo kit. I know it's only 95+ and that it's going to be CARB Approved (CA street legal) most CARB approved turbo kits are wussy and only boost a bit of HP. Which isnt bad for just a dude like me wanting like 50-60 extra HP. But I doubt they'll ever come out with it, they've been saying that forever.

I'm fairly new to Nissan's so I'm too sure about this, but don't the 240sx's for 1991 up to 1998 all use the same KA24DE engine? If this is the case, then wouldn't the Greddy Turbo Kit theoretically bolt right up to the 1991 to 1993 240sx although Greddy lists it for 1995+ ?

I'm actually looking forward to the Greddy Kit because I'll be getting an S13 240sx soon and I only want a small (around 50hp) increase at most...

actually the early models were a KA24e (single overhead cam), and no they wouldnt, cause the head is a little different throughout the years.

Well I know the pre-1991 S13 uses the KA24E, but I'm only talking about the 1991+ with the KA24DE. Is there a website that shows a timeline about what exactly was changed with the KA24DE over the years? I'm curious to know. Thanks
