I am getting ready to buy the greddy turbo kit for my 1998 240sx with the fmic. i am actually going to scrap the emanage they provide and install the ultimate e-manage when i put the turbo on. my question is that i am installing this myself and then taking it over to get the ultimate emanage tuned at a local shop, if, God willing, it starts up would it be safe for me to drive the 5 miles to the shop with no programming or should i find a safer route?

as long as you don't go over ~2k rpms you should be fine, since the car shouldn't be makin any boost @ that rpm, but if towing is an option then do it.

^ I know exactly how I feel.. I hate waiting for the pay checks every two weeks, just so I can get closer... plus I rode in my friends ka24e-t and I was addicted right away.

you don't have a friend, or someone with a truck that could tow it? ... or another 240, they do have toe hooks.. haha.

Talk to structure, he might be bale to get you a deal of a sort on the greddy kit...

anyway, to get back on topic. If you aren't changing the injector size, it will drive like a normal car without tuning if you stay out of boost.

the emanage blue from greddy with the kit has a tune on it. not a tune you should boost with but should be good enough for you to drive the car. although u plan to go to the ultimate

if you are spending $3500 or so on a turbo kit another $65 for a tow shouldnt be a problem

when you are ready to order get a hold of me and ill see what i can do for you

What is is you do to keep your wastegate open?I guess he coudl just remove the spring therefore no boost.Actually just leave the wastegate off? I've towed many people with my 240 Just make sure whoever is towing you knows hwo to do it correctly:(My friend towed me because I was out of gas, he was going 50mph and knew that my brakes sucked, pulled into the gas station going 35mph Had my brakes locked up so I wouldn't hit him) Whenever oyu tow someone you should keep it under 10mph. Unless it's wood vehicles

my friend installed the damn kit with the stock emanage on his car... it started up fine.. no front mount intercooler and first day around we drove ths hit out of the car... its fine and runs like a swiss watch... he will be instaling the front mount intercooler soon and he will tune the e-manage. Just install the damn thing... dont be stupid when doing it and plug in the emanage and it will get you to the shop, just dont drive like an idiot....

If you stick with stock injectors, ecu, and drive it SLOWLY off boost to the shop, it'll make it. CHange out the injectors & ecu when you get there.

Since emanage is just a piggyback, you should drive it like an old woman to get it tuned. It will not hurt anything so long as the K value is correct.

Well, if you really absolutely couldn't afford a tow truck, what about taking off the hot pipe and cold pipe and running it all motor to the shop? I've done that a few times with my car, and it seemed to run alright.

as stated before if you stay out of boost, which is very easy to do, it wont have any problems, save your 60 bucks for another hour of dyno time. I drove like 20 miles before I started tuning my car. Also you can set the gate open on the internal wastegate so the car wont be able to go into boost even if you do get on the throttle.

I have the Greddy kit on my car and can attest that the stock tune sucks. But honestly there is no reason to tow the car. Just dont boost it and you will be fine. Another interesting thing about the emanage that comes on the car is that Greddy does not use a TPS wire on the emanage. THey tune the fuel baised on RPM alone. I reccomend getting the Ignition Harness upgrade and adding that, then use one of the left over wires to hook up the TPS, then you can tune baised on TPS and RPM.

why would you tune on TPS vs rpm when you can tune on load vs rpm. thats what makes the emanage nice actually.
