I hooked up my Greddy profec the other day on my sr but can't seem to get a steady boost above 8-9psi. I have an hks actuator and my turbo is on it's way to being blown (doesn't hit full boost till about 3800-4k). The wastegate actuator was set to between 10-12 when I installed the controller. The thing is, my car seemed faster, actually was faster before I put the profec on. My boost gauge also read 10-11 before I put the Greddy on. I played around with the settings all day and still couldn't get it to boost over 8. It feels strong in first and the beginning of second but after that when I hit higher rpm maybe 5500, it just feels like it stops pulling. Finally I just put all the settings close to 100% but still no change. How do I get this thing to make my car pull again? Could it just be my turbo getting worse? I dunno but it only started once i put the controller on. I even checked for kinks in the vacum hoses and found none. Does where you have the valve mounted affect this? I have my mounted close to the power steering resevior. ANY help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hmmm, there's not much to tuning a Profec. Since you were having boost issues prior, it sounds like you may have a leak in you exhaust (or somewhere else). Same kind of thing happened to my on my subaru...the uppipe gasket went poo-poo. Just a guess.

are you sure you got it hooked correcty? The COM port should go to the actuator and the NO port should be a pressure source. the NC port should not have anything plugged into it and should be left open atmosphere.

As far as the settings. Reset the factory default settings. Do not change anything but set boost and start boost. Leave the set gain at the factory setting of 5 i think it is. Maybe 10 I can't remember. Start boost should be a pound or so under what you want your target boost to be. On my car with a stock actuator, my low "set boost" is 25% and my hi boost is around 40%. This results in boost of 10psi and 14.7 psi respectively. The limit boost feature is set in a percentage as well. You can limit boost by just subtracting from your set boost. for instance hi=40%, limit boost=32%. This is based on the warning feature which is set in BAR or PSI. My hi boost warning is set at 15.7psi.

As far as the manual, it sucks when it comes to explaining setup. Basically the main thing is don't mess with the gain. Just leave it set like it is from the factory. If none of this works then your actuator or turbo may have some problems. I would adjust the HKS actuator a little so you can have a lower boost without the boost controller on. Mine off is about 8psi, low=10psi, hi=14.7psi.

Hope this helps

hehe.. f150intally, you have yours set exactly like mine. off for stock boost, Low is 10psi, high is 14psi. Can you write down all of your exact settings, (including the set, start, and gain (even though I know it's factory), I've had many problems with the boost wavering. I think the profec B spec 2 just sux, I've talked to many people who said it sux, the spec 1 was where it was at. But who knows. Once you get the settings correct it'll be good. Also, on the NC port on the actuator there is a little plastic nipple that you have to remove, if you have not removed it the boost will be crazy irratic.

yes, i'll write it down tomorrow. I know these boost controllers pretty good after fiddling with it so much. I had a lesson from John and Scott at Secret services. My boost is actually very steady. The only thing I don't like about the controller is that I have to adjust it for changes in temp for some reason. Hotter weather I have to turn it up colder weather down. The HKS EVC my buddy has you set it at the boost level you want and he never has to change it.

Thanks everyone, it turned out that I left the plastic nipple in the NC side. I guess when I installed it I figured that needed to be plugged since it was not bein used. Pulls hard as ever now...=-)...Thanx again.

So whose post helped you? Isn't crazy how somethings that are said differently but mean the same thing turn lights on in people's head?

I'm sure it was my post that helped. Mine said nipple in it. ;)

I had that damn nipple in for a long *** time and my boost was horrid. I know what you mean about the temperature thing. Today I raced some mustang on ET Streets. I dumped it at about 5k, i was pretty even off the line, then the boost kicked in and I was next to him, then all of the studden it starts hitting the boost limitor and my stupid BOV starts dropping the boost, so I have to let off and turn it back to low then get back on it. So ya, by then the dude was down the street. I didnt get to race him from a light again but we went from 40-130mph and I pulled a bumper ;) Good race....

LOL, both helped. I didn't just read the first then go fix my car. i read everythings and took in all the input. Cuz I also had to tune down all the numbers once i did that like ya'll said...my turbo is still on it's way to the grave. I don't get full boost till about 3800. Can't wait for my new setup to arrive...

2.15 a gal? That's nothing. Try 2.55 here in Cali
