Quick question:

This unit has a port in the back for a boost / vac source. Does this need to be hooked up..?? Is this for monitoring purposes only..??

Reason why i ask is cause there is a separate module that adjusts boost accordingly..

The prfec b has 3 attachments in the back. 2 are electrical, and one is the boost source. They all have to be connected. The vacuum source is what the boost controler uses to guide the percentage increase in boost. I just plugged mine in 4 days ago, so hit me up if you have any more questions on install ar programming(It can be a little tricky)

That nipple was already hooked up to a vac / boost source.. I thought it was there just so that we could have a boost reading from it in case we didnt have a separate boost gauge...

So i went ahead and removed that line from the unit... Well i guess ill be hooking it back up...

Thanks

I happen to still use my boost gauge. It is easier to read when you are punching the car. But the boost line in the back of the profec II attaches to the wastegate, and hence allows to boost more without opening the wastegate.

I have a boost gauge that is separate and that is what i keep an eye on while im under WOT...

When i opened up the profec B it stated to hook that nipple to a vac/boost source which is all fine and dandy, and i did, but i just thought that was just for the ability of the prefec B to display the boost readings... ( in case if we didnt have a separate boost gauge) we would then have something to display it...

I didnt know that it used that source as a reference to help control boost... I guess tonite i will be hooking that back up...

I have that vacuum hose attached at one end to my profec II and the other to the top of my wastegate. My boost gauge is actually teed off that same line, before that little filter that comes with it. You need the boost gauge to help you know if your boost is spiking or just rising with acceleration. Both these problems can be fixed with the EBC.

I'm also not quite sure how it works, I just know that that is what I adujsted to control the boost spiking. Mine is set at 2% on high boost (with a 45 set from 5.6 lbs stock spring) and 0% on low boost.
