My friend has his old greddy profec b boost controller for sale. He upgraded to an avc-r but he is using the greddy solenoid on the apexi unit.So basically he only has the greddy main unit for sale. At first i was trying to find a greddy boost solenoid but i got to thinking that i might be able to just use any solenoid like the one found on the igniter mount in the ca? I think it was originally used for higher fuel pressure on hot starts. I'm heading over to his house today but im pretty sure it is only a pos. and a neg. that goes to the solenoid, which would in theory be perfect. Anyone know for sure if it will or will not work?

It is almost sure it won't work properly with any other solenoid. You could use one of the same type (not just an on-off solenoid), but it might need some kind of calibration.

I have thought of the solenoid next to the igniter too, because i have this disabled. You could use it as an on-off switch i guess, but you don't need the profec to do it, just plug the vacuum lines and connect it with a switch inside the car. But you wouldnt be able to get mid boost levels, just std and maximum (which might not be a good thing ) whether it is on or off . Unless you figure out a way to minimize the amount of air coming out of the solenoid, to succeed a mid level boost that you would be happy to run as a high boost level, controlled via a switch.

I thought the Profec B controled how Slow/fast the wastegate opened, by controlling the solenoid speed, but I could be wrong. It's just that they're supposed to learn and adapt to each vehicle.
