I hope you are not taking the trans off just to change the oil pan lol.

Get one of those swivels for impact wrenches. Its not a u-joint type but a ball-socket type. Makes the job much easier.

On a side note; Did anyone else notice how much aluminum casting flash there was in their Greddy pan ?

I seriously cleaned mine out for a good 45 min to an hour. I certainly hope everyone else did too, and didn't just slap it on out of the bag.

Some people do pull the engine out to take the trans off. They find that much easier.

spherical swivel and a long extension is really all you need to break those loose. I know its hard to get to but its not impossible

My friends that helped me take out my transmission for a clutch swap laughed when I told them some SR guys just pull the whole motor.... then they stopped laughing when we started taking out the transmission bolts and then when we went to put them back in.

yeah.. next time i do the trans, Im pulling the motor out. It takes me 2 hours if I dont screw around. Putting it back in kindda sucks tho.. since you have to line up the engine mount and what not.. it sucks.

It's seriously that much of an issue for you guys to get the transmission off?1) Loosen motor mounts2) Take off transmission cross brace.3) Jack up front of motor4) Remove all the bolts. For me, there was only one "difficult" one and it was the bolt near the upper exahust side. I guess also because I have taken off like 3 trannies.

Its nots even just the bolts... when I tried to line up the trans back into the engine, it was very difficult to get it to go in smoothly. Sometimes I got lucky and it would slide right in but many times, I usually had to have a friend benchpress the trans while I use my foot to shove it into the engine... Its a big pain in the a s s

Fair enough. We had to do the same thing. Me benchpressing the transmission while my budy kung-pow kicked the transmission back on.

I just recently ordered my Greddy oil-pan, it should be here some time next week. I'm hoping that the pan is enough to prevent oil starvation.

I just got mine today. Why are there two taps on the side? They sent a plug for it, so I am not worried. But seriously, what could that be used for?
