Whats up everyone? I have a quick question...I have a red top sr with a s15 turbo with a hks wastegate actuator. When I let off the gas my greddy bov flutters. Is that because it is set for too hard or soft? Is that bad for the turbo? Just would like to know just in case I need to do a few turns toward hard or soft. Thanks a lot!

what you describe may be turbo surge...and that would mean it's set too hard. Yes, compressor surge is bad for the turbo.

What boost setting are you running? And under what boost resistance do you have the valve?

Has anybody actually broken a turbo due to wastegate flutter? People always say that it is bad, but I have never heard of a person messing up a turbo due to the cool flutter sound.

i still know next to nothing about turbos, BUT, i dont think it is the wastegate fluttering. i thought it was the compressor wheel spinning backwards and such because the air flows back into it. causing the surging.
