I'm a little confused on the scope and effect of a fatwa, since it doesn't seem like something we have to compare it to... Tariq? Z? A little help plz?

i honestly cant comment on fatwas since I myself dont really understand them. That being said, Ive always held that it is a communities responsibility to police its own people for hints of perversion of religion. If we dont police our own on terms we understand and agree to, then we are left to be policed by outsiders via terms that we may find unfavorable.

Moderate islam doesnt have a face, just like moderate christianity doesnt. You know radicalization when you see it.

Definitely a step in the right direction at least in North America. But we really shouldnt see this coming from the Canadians. How bout a louder voice from CAIR, ISNA, and their respective regional and local chapters. But I applaud the step in the right direction. Even hooper pointed out that CAIR produced their own condemnation in 2k5, but who heard about it? I remember maybe 3 sentences in my local paper.
