I have decided to get rid of my 7400MP. I am not really impresses with it. I want the best sounding and easy use MP3 player for up to $800.

I noticed that Nakamichi is coming out with one. Anyone know of any stores that carry their HU so I can test it out when it comes out?

Any suggestioon are great except for any alpines or Pionners. I don't like both.

Wow. I haven't heard many people knock pioneer and alpine in the same sentence. I pretty much go with the premier line. The 7400 is about three times less than the 740. I am getting the new 750 that is coming out soon.

well other than alpine/pioneer, you can go JVC, but that's kinda like a downgrade... although SQ is pretty nice from those decks, i'd rather get one of the new alpines with the 6ch digital time correction, mmmmm :D

but otherwise you could go with a higher end eclipse deck like the cd8443, and then get the commander advance so you can not only play mp3's, but you can also control the deck with voice commands, make cell phone calls through it, have GPS, and even roll down your windows via your voice... cool shiznit, and you can find a commander for under $200 US on ebay with GPS unit/antenna...

dunno how well the eclipse's do with mp3's but i'd check em' out...

Check out my post about top of the line headunits.

I'm leaning towards the Eclipse CD8053 that's SUPPOSE TO COME OUT THIS MONTH.

Go for the Eclipse. If you want really cheap, get the 3403.

the new eclipse's are all capable of playing mp3's. my deck can play anything from cdr, cdrw, mp3's, cd, heck... i even thinks its also xm ready. and eclipse solve the skipping problem they had. i had the deck for about 3-4 months now and it hasn't skipped on me yet.

I have a Rockford Fosgate 9400 deck. It plays MP3's and sounds exceptionally good. THe MP3 cds load up really fast and there is practically no delay between songs (I've heard some other players have up to a 5 second delay while the track starts reading) I'm quite happy with it. I never hear anyone mention the RF's so I thought I'd throw that in there

Not if they're compressed properly. If you can tell the difference between a 256k mp3 and CD then you are spending too much time listening to the technicals and not enough time listening to the music...

i can rarely tell the difference with anything LAME encoded above 128k. Especialy in the car. my s13 isnt exactly a prefect sound environment at 75mph.

To tell you the truth, atleast on my RF deck, The MP3's sound WAY better than normal CDs do. Most of mine are 128 or higher.
