I have a 1994 Q45 and it had a bad tension rod bushing and a two leaking valve cover gaskets. Went to the dealer and they wanted 9 hours labor at $110 per hour for the gaskets and 1.5 hours for the bushng, or $1,150 for the job. I did not find any local mechanic who I would trust with my Q. Heard about this mechanic in San Diego who specializes in Infiniti and Lexus cars. Turns out he was worked for the local Infiniti dealership for many years before he went out on his own. When I told him what the dealer wanted, he said it would only take half the time. To make a long story short, he did the whole job for $460 and saved me money on the tension rod (the dealer wanted to sell me a whole tension rod rather than just replacing the bushing which was all that was needed). Got to talking with him and he really knows his stuff about Infiniti cars. This guy is more honest than the day is long. I traveled all the way from Sacramento to San Diego (550 miles) just to use him. The money I saved more than paid for the trip/vacation. Anyway here are the details:

Jerry Tucker is definitely well-known to many of the Southern California members here ...

Jerry has been pampering my 90 Q since I bought it in 01. He has saved me about a million dollars. True, he is the nicest, most honest guy. He does great work on all japanese cars... only problem is he always has about a 7-10 day wait, worth it though.

Here's to Jerry!

Jerry does work on my car as well. He's the only guy I would trust my car with outside the dealership. Of course where the G50 is concerned, he's one of the few in the country that would be like a "certified G50 tech" if there was such a thing.
