I'm about to put some dynamat and mlv under the rear seat so I need to clean it up. The issue is there is grease that seems to be lining the underside of the rear bench. What is the purpose of this? Can I clean it off? After I put in the mlv do I need do I need to put grease on top of it? If so what kind?

You sure something did not spill? Mine had no grease there when I did my fat mat install.

I dont know. I would think if something spilled I would see evidence of it on the seat. I kind of thought it was there as some type of preserver for the underside of the seat, but then I thought that didn't make much sense since the back of the backrest didn't have the same greasy film.
