my trucks front end was creaking a lot lately. i went to grease the fittings in the upper/lower ball joints and tie rod ends. only squirted grease into tractors with no problems. on this truck there are rubber boots around these joints under the grease/zirk fittings. will they inflate with grease and the one under the steering column broke open with a crapload of grease on the control arm. does anyone know what the fix is? like taking apart the tie rod?

and while i am asking what is the deal, i thought i was supposed to grease until it came out of the joints, are these trucks different? as in inflating the boot only to a certain amount. i did greased with a gun on the passenger side and the boots bloated out but then the grease came out of the joints. not so under the steering column.

i posted somewhat hastily, but it was to give time for anyone to respond while i was in town on the internet.

so after some research it seems replacing the tie rod end or aftermarket energysuspensionparts.com polyurethane boots. does anyone have an opinion on this products that are stated to be longer lasting than traditional rubber boots?

ES makes good products. I have their bushings on my 95 truck.

Everything went fine. One thing happened was that on driver side the inner and outer tie rods were reversed from the last guy who worked on it . So the threads were opposite for the part I bought. I just switched the outer to inner and used the part i bought. I used beck arnley 555 tie rods from an import store. Returned the Moog. Moog gave a tiny lock nut and had no grease fittings. So I returned that.
The steering wheel actually straightened but I figure to still take it in for alignment.
