According to my Chilton manual, my 1994 Hardbody 4x4 has waterproof rubber caps over grease fittings that need to be replaced after taking them off for greasing. Are these caps something that's readily available? If so what are they called and where do I get them?

Hmm, never seen them before. I wonder if they are the same as the rubber bleeder screw caps found on the calipers and wheel cylinders.

Here's what it says exactly. Not what I thought and I guess it answers my question about where to getj them. But from experience if it's specific to old hardbodies they won't be able to get them

"You will also need to purchase grease fittings from your Nissan dealer, as certain front-end components are fitted with screw-in plugs to prevent entry of foreign material . . . Remove the plug and install the grease fitting. [Grease gun stuff] . . . When this has been accomplished, remove the fitting and install the plug."

Here's what I did when I installed Moog ball joints and steering parts on my '95. I left the grease fittings in place but turned them so they face towards the rear of the truck where I could. That way they would not be facing road grit head on. You can probably get the grease fittings from any auto parts shop. I wouldn't bother switching them back and forth.

suobs, the original Nissan suspension parts had a metal plug screwed into the spot for the grease zerk. At first, I removed the plugs and replaced them after greasing - but now I just leave the zerks in place all the time.
