I have what it seems like streaks of grease coming from the drivers side front tire streaking back to front door. Does anyone know what this might be ?
I didnt think anything of it a few days ago but with my silver 05 Maxima it showed a lot more today

the boot on your cv axle might be torn and throwing grease out - check that out.

How major would the boot be ? We are in the middle of a snowstorm and im not sure if Nissan will even be open today

nothing major...until the axle breaks kidding. it needs to be fixed eventually. the boot covers a joint in the axle and is filled with grease for lubrication. when the boot tears the grease runs out and dirt gets in. i haven't heard about an axle snapping because of lack of grease but surely you'll want either the boot or axle replaced soon. since you live on the east side you'll probably need the whole axle because salt will cause more damage to the joint.Tomsoxfan wrote:How major would the boot be ? that's if it is the boot that's throwing grease...

I brought it to Nissan and they couldnt find anything wrong with the boot , brakes or anything. They said i must have ran somehting over and the tire was spitting this stuff back all over my door
