Anyone else have it?

I picked it up last weekend. The physics engine and visuals are very good, IMO, but the content is severely lacking.

NO modsNO "theme" races (game just picks cars to race against any car you want to run)Access to only 5 manufacturers per day (randomly selected) to buy cars

I know it's set up for a portable experience, but I sort of have beef with that. Portable games HAVE to be watered-down in terms of visuals, which is fine, but there's no reason they should be watered-down in terms of playability. I don't have TIME to play games at home, I do 90% of my gaming on portables, so I really wish they'd included more content.

It's still a lot of fun though, and it's still the best car racing game on PSP (Wipeout is the best overall racing game, IMO).

Any cars I buy on the PSP version will transfer to GT5 on PS3, saving me a lot of time. I've already got like 50 cars on here.

EXACTLY! I'm sick of developers acting like they have to "make" games portable just to fit them on the DS or PSP. I had thought we'd evolved past that misconception. I rarely want a portable game experience. What I want is a "full" game that fits in my pocket.

I've read lots of negative reviews of GTPSP for the reasons you listed. I also think it suffered horribly from Daikatana syndrome. People waited years and years for portable GT and instead got something that's barely worthy of the GT name.

My big question is how you can possibly play a semi-realistic racing game with NO analog throttle? How does that even work? It seems like the PSP's control limitations are a big problem once again.

I definitely don't plan to pick it up anytime soon. Too many other games I actually really want to waste money on a mediocre racing game.

Yeah, the lack of analog throttle sort of sucks, but I dealt with it for GT1/2, and I can deal with it now. They sort of compensate for it, like they always did, by severely reducing the penalties of lifting relative to real life. You can just lift and blip, again and again, whereas lifting mid-corner in a Renault Turbo 5 in real life would put you in a ditch.

It's a compromise, but it works okay.

I need to find a really good, deep, complete PSP RPG. Something as close to FFXII as possible.

Post it up when you do, it might be a reason for me to finally pick up a PSP.

I'm in complete agreement with MoD on this, with the capabilities of the portables now there is ZERO reason to release anything less than a full and complete game. Just because the screen is smaller doesn't mean that the gaming experience has to be.

Obviously, Dragon Quest IX is going to probably be the deepest RPG available on any portable system when it comes out.

Given how amazing we all KNOW the game is (from reviews, of course), it stands to reason that something akin to FFXII (in complexity, not visuals) is more than feasible on the PSP.

The PSP is actually a really great piece of hardware, IMO, particularly for RPG's, and while it has a solid lineup, many of the titles seem less robust than they could be.

I want a PSP RPG that I can put 150 hours into.

Screw the PSP. Just get Chrono Trigger for the DS.

I've actually never played Chrono Trigger, believe it or not (not more than 4-5 hrs, anyway), so I do need to get on that.

A remake of a SFC title won't scratch this itch though. I want something with no random battles, ideally very similar in complexity and depth to FFXII, or as close as possible.

I have it, love itttt.

I'm stuck on the last Driving Challenge for overtaking.

lol, I'm pretty content with the new lazy "quick tuning"feature. You basically can just slide the cursor to how much horsepower and weight you want on or off, among a few other things like suspension, camber etc.

This game helps fast forward through many of the boring parts of the day, i usually find myself playing drift mode or trying to beat my best time on nuburgring.

fun fact: the voiceover for the demonstration videos is provided by Jay Leno

If the PSP can contain the full might if Leno's chin it's certainly time for a full-scale rpg.
