grade of gas affect engine?

Hi All!

I'm buying a 95 SE and heard that the car only takes premium gas because the engine is a high compressed engine or something like that. Is this true? If so, then what would happen if a person ran octane 87 only. The person i'm buying the car from said that the car doesn't required premium gas.

Yes, you are correct. The person would get crappy gas mileage and crap performance. Do a search for "octane" and you'll see plent of responses. There's an active thread right now in the "Infiniti General" section about octane. But if you search I'm sure you'll find plenty more about the timing changes your ECU will make etc because of the lower octane and knocking...
