Been looking around for a second Z32, first being a 91 2+2 NA

Would it be worth it to grab a lets say $1500-$4000 2+0 NA, and use it til the engine needs replacement (who knows how long that would take....) and at that point ship over a TT front clip and have it converted?(conversion would have to be done at a shop)

My 2+2 had more power after having the engine rebuilt, but the previous owner did beat the hell out of it. But after reading many forums, Ive found that the NA's bang for the buck are minor upgrades putting you at just over 200hp(maybe 220ish?) at the wheels?

No, from a cost perspective it isn't worth it to swap. It's cheaper to just buy a TT.

As far as "bang for your buck NA upgrades" there really isn't such a thing. With all the bolt ons, you can get a good 210-220whp out of them (about a 40whp increase). That pretty much maxes them out though.

yeah thats what ive been hearing....

So even if I planned on keeping this car for years and years, the conversion just aint worth it?

What im saying is I prefer the Z32 over the 350z...which is why im looking for another 300.. the body is just too damn sexy.

Im guessing you prob wouldnt have any idea what a shop would charge for this conversion on average?

Well, it depends on the shop. The problem is, Z's are complex cars, and it really isn't a good idea to leave it with a shop that doesn't know what they're doing. Z1 charges like $9k for the whole thing, but they use a lot of new parts and are the most expensive Z shop known to man.

If you could find a local Z guru who knew what they were doing, you could probably get the labor for around $1500-$2000. Plus $3k for the front clip and another $1k-$2k to replace a bunch of parts (front clips always have things wrong with them) and you're looking at the price of a nice TT PLUS the price of your NA. This is why it's cheaper to just buy a TT.

yes, z1 is pretty pricey.

but you know what, it seems like everybody charges an arm and a leg, right?

let's say a swap takes 50 hours, if you charge 2k (which nobody does --- nobody high-profile anyway) --- that's still 40 bucks an hour!!!

that's pretty decent pay.

it's 3k minimum, it is a business so i guess i'm just being stupid.
