Which one for daily spirited driving paired with Tein S.Techs on an s13???? I dont feel like blowing $400 on AGX's when i'll go with coilovers in the future... Any other budget oriented suggestions also????Which shocks w/ Tein stechs on s13??

I have the Tokicos with H&R springs, the car rides excellent. I have owned and ridden in cars with KYB struts/shocks, I don't think they have as good of a ride as the Tokico. Just my opinion. I think my car rides bettter than it did in stock trim.

GR-2's are wicked good, I keep hearing about the blues blowing out on lowered cars, and mine is dropped 1.7" and the shocks hold up.

I read an article about an install on a late model Mustang (I forgot what magazine it was) They installed some springs and Tokico blues. They said that they stick with the Tokicos b/c they love the ride and they have never seen one fail. Just quoting what I read, and I think that tokico and KYB are both quality products, I just prefer the ride quality of the Tokicos that's all.

Sportlines are kinda low.. like 2 inches rite??? I think that would make GR2's blow quicker since there not supposed to be lowered more than like an inch and a half... better get some more opinions though because im not 100% certain bout this...

i have gr2s with s-techs right now and they're ok. i used to have the blues with some intrax springs and it felt great for about 9 months, then i guess they blew since the ride got really bad. i didnt use a dust boot so that may have been a big factor. however, from what i've heard, the blues are known to blow quickly. dunno if that helped but ehh..just my $.02.

seriously though, just save your money if you're getting coilovers anyway.

Well i dont quite need all that adjustability quite yet... im only 17.. just need something to give the car a better stance and improved handling... mayb in a year or two or three ill go full on coilover setup, but for now shocks n springs serve my purpose just fine. But i2ice4m3- the GR2's with S. techs ride nicely?? how long have they been on on ur 240 for??? ill prolly order the GR2's this week.

i've had that setup for about 6 months, but the shocks were on the car when i bought it which was about a year ago. I think they were replaced a while back even before then, so they've been holding up pretty long.

i know what you mean, but i would suggest getting tein basic coilovers. i am 16 and didnt think i needed the adjustabilty either, and i love the teins. they have ride height adjustabilty, so you can set the stance however you want. the best thing is the fact that they only cost a little more than the shock/spring package..

i dont know how "good" they are, but i wouldnt go w/ that combo since sportlines are a ~2.2" drop while the shocks are warranteed for ~1.5". i guess the shocks werent made to handle that much of a drop. but yeah...like whiterps13 said, for a little more you can get the basic teins.

I believe the GR-2s are stock replacements. They usuallly blow out quick on a lowered car the lower the faster they go.

I have GR-2'S with R1 racing springs and its a stiff ride, over bumps its a *****, but over good roads and corners its excelent.... I have next to No body roll in my 240, although i do have both front and rear strut bars.

The white line on GR-2s will rip the shocks a new one... seriously

GR-2s are made for stock height/spring rate and can be lowered moderately about an inch or so and not so high spring rate. Whiteline will be too much for GR-2s

theyre all the same its pretty crappy. my girlfriends car has tokicos they suck. better if you save up for basic dampers like low end kei office, apex world whatever, any tein, the kts stuff that spl has, usually its all -1200 or less some are about 700 a set stick to made in japan stuff its better in the long run in my opinion. i have no idea where agx, kyb all those gay named stuff comes from china? i know jics get really rusted though so i dont like jic

if you just want ur car lowered buy some use dsprings from the classified forum fo rlike 50-75 bucks for temp use then resell em when u wanna upgrade. i mean its a harsh ride but its better than forkin out money for stuff that sucks.

i personally am saving up for some beefy coilovers with heavy spring rate about 10kgs/8kgs or 12/10. probably soime gymkhana or circuit style stuff. ohlins, aragosta or zeal maybe.

you need to stop spreading misinformation..most of your posts have to do with how JDM is better than ANYTHING else. btw...

hmm..i can't personally say how good either company is because I haven't used their products, but many seem to be satisfied with KYB/Tokico products. The only thing to keep in mind when pairing it with lowering springs is the ride height. There are threads that explain how low you can go with the KYB/Tokico struts without lowering their lifespan.
