2009 G37

I am stumbling around on the fast track to learning as much as I can about my new ride (LOVE IT). I first off wanted to thank you guys for this forum and input. It helped the learning process immensely!

My question may come off as lame but I am struggling wrapping my noodle around the following.

The Factory GPS system is clever but I cannot seem to pull up a list on my searches other than the first page.

For instance... When I search for nearest resturants it only lists one page and no ability to scroll..? Am I missing something there?

Also... the ability to search for a name of a business?

These both seem very basic in terms of GPS systems but I am lost finding either one of these methods.

Could someone guide me or inform me of the limitations if any? I have been searching to no avail.

Thanks in advance.

I managed to find a detailed manual for NAV for last years model. Am I correct to assume they are the same and the issue I seem to be having is many features are disabled while vehicle is in use?

Anyone??

Bueller..

Saftey feature....

You can only see the first page while you are driving. You should be able to see the rest if the car is in park... I did the same thing with mine.

While I like much of what you see in the link, for example the auto door locks, etc. you can roll your own for the nav depending on your desire for the bells and whistles or simply to be able to program it on the fly. The kit is great in that it adds things like auto punching your ok button when the car is turned on etc. If you simply want to program it keep in mind what prevents you from doing so, basically the speed signal. This also pertains to the hard drive as well. The aux input has a similar issue if you want to add a carputer into the display (such as the camp 2).

What I find a little strange about this is how open the iPod is for selection and how disabled some of the rest is in comparison. From a safety standpoint I find some of the work arounds more unsafe than the straight forward normal method.

Anyone familiar with another type of solution or competitor to KP?

The NAV system only fully functional while stopped is unaceptable and in fact when you have a passenger who is more than capable to push buttons while you drive... this feature is embarrising and a hinderance at best.

ANy more suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

You may want to do a search for this as it is on many forums dealing with Nissan products. Basically you need to remove the speed signal. Some are simply toggle switches, others involve something like a push button with a 15-30 second 555 timer, etc. Just a matter of how many bells and whistles. All I have seen involve hacking into the harness at some points which is why at this point I haven't done this myself as I would like to see a patch cable that makes everythings simply a plug in.

I wouldn't mind cutting and soldering wires with clear instructions...I will continue to poke around. I am sure this is an issue with many owners.

Still shocked about the limitation on it but otherwise the car is a dream.

If you are willing to do it than here it is. You might have different color wires but should be easy to figure it out.

Check this one out

To me once you get the aux part of the mod done then it allows other things to possibly occur. For example adding an equalizer to an after market system that has a video display. Adding a car computer into the mix through the aux ports is another. A radar detector on your screen. There are lots of possibilities that open up.

Let me know about the connectors.

I haven't come across any other navigation product for the '07s-up. In '07 Infiniti went to a much more complicated system, and the old "555" timer solutions no longer work. The older cars worked on a basic (-) pulse, the new cars have a communication bus that makes reading the OEM buttons much more difficult.

The best part about the KPtech NI35 is the fact that you don't have to add any extra buttons or switches to your brand new car - every thing works through the OEM "Enter" button.

We, at one point, looked in to making a patch harness, but because we would need to make two seperate harness to make it plug and play, and both harnesses are expensive and have fairly high pin counts, it simply isn't cost effective for us to commit to making them. The NI35 has current limited inputs/outputs which makes it extremely difficult to damage anything in the car, even if it is hooked up incorrectly!

I installed the NI35 earlier today in my 09 Vert. I can confirm that the wiring harness is exactly like the 07+ coupes. Installation was about an hour including the nerve racking soldering of 2 wires onto the circuit board of the "Enter" button.
