Im not too sure if thats what its acctualy called, thats just what my friend calls it. Well I just bought a 1995 nissan 240sx. I was testing how fast I could get it but I could only get up to 120 and then it almost seems like it dies. This is because there is a chip in it that doesn't allow it to go any faster than 120. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this and hopfully how to remove it. A site with steps or if you could tell me steps with a pic or something. Even info on how much it would cost to get removed would be helpful.thanks

You can cut a wire, or get the computer reprogrammed.

The "chip" is actually part of the ECU, you cant take it out :( but like skwerel said, you can cut a speed sensor wire, or get the computer reprogrammed.

If you do a search, or go look at the FAQ on 240sx.org It gives you the details. You will throw a code but it does not hurt the car. I can't remember but give jim wolf an email and they can tell you if it isn't on their page. Check this link http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/ecurest.htm

The cheapest you can get a KA ecu reprogrammed by Jim Wolf Technology is for 500 from http://www.heavythrottle.com or http://www.jgycustoms.com you might want to watch our for sale section, I've seen SEVERAL NA KA tuned ecu's for sale on there at reasonableish prices!
