Manual is governed to 118 or so, the automatic does not. However this shouldn't concern you because your 13+ year old stock KA will not get above that anyway. However, if you are so inclined, there is something called a Greddy Speed Cut Eliminator (~$70) that gets rid of the speed governor.

Is this a joke? I raced a Jetta up to 130 until he pulled on me (with a stock motor). ...wait, it must have been the drop in K&N air filter and BRM Exhaust

You did not race a Jetta up to 130 mph in an S chassis without some ecu tuning and more power. I have a GTI with a mild VR6, and an S13 with a fresh high compression KADE, bolt ons, light weight flywheel, aluminum ds, and other goodies. The VW will punk my S13, which accelerating beyond 120 mph is scary and dangerously skittish, while the dub will pull to a clean 145mph before the ecu stops the fun. A 1.8T or 2.0T VW is even more capable.

Basic RPM / gearing / final drive match will calculate the top speed of the car. well over 90. Manual ECU had a speed limited, auto's do not, auto manual swaps have auto ECU's so no limiter.

Top spreed in 5th gear at 6000rpm with stock 195/60/15's would be 139mph

Scary I just calculated mine

6000 RPM, 275/40 17, .506th gear, 3.689 diff....

top speed 248mph (never gonna get near that)
