You should see the chore I have in front of me! My daughter was driving a Honda Civic that was in my name and I didn't know she didn't have any insurance on it. Well, she had a wreck. I'm already out $1300 on the Honda just to get it rolling. I owe $1600 on the car she hit. And I have a car I owe $8000 on that is beat to hell. I have to at least get someone to replace the front fender so I can open the passenger door then I have the biggest mess to clean up inside it that you have ever seen.

Yeah, she is OK but our relationship is strained. Can you imagine where I would be if she had rammed a new Vette or GT-R or something.

Or an R8 GT, at twice the price of the GT-R. I take it you can get away with letting insurance lapse on a car with a lien in Tennessee? In Virginia they notify the lienholder, who can and will repossess the car.

3/4 of the people in Memphis don't have insurance. We don't enforce the law at all.

When I get some spare time I'm going to take it someplace like ABRA and just see how much they will charge me to replace the front fender and the side mirrors. I can do a super detail and get the car looking fairly good. Gas prices going up will help me with the value of a Civic. I think I can get it looking good enough that I can get most of my money back on it. I will probably just be out the cost of the car she hit.

You can get away with it in Virginia as far as the law is concerned, if you hold the title. But if there's a loan, it works pretty much the same as with homeowner's insurance and a mortgage. You carry insurance on the asset that secures the loan or they come get it.

Yup. That is what I can't make her understand. It isn't really the $$$$, it is the total lack of respect for me and everything I work my azz off for.
