Well my father put up some things on craigslist to barter with. Someone had two rifles for trade for my dads dinky old aluminum fishing boat. One of which my dad didnt even know what it was. He just said it was some old WW2 rifle and looked like lee harvey oswalds gun lol. I said id prolly know what it was so he sent me some pics and it was mosin nagant (m44) carbine. He said he would let me have it since i was so excited about it, and he really had no use for anything more than a .22.

Date stamped on it is 1952 so its not a war era nagant, but cool nonetheless. Has a folding bayonet which is a nice touch. Seems this one was made in poland by doing a little research. Only things i need for it are the cleaning rod (missing) and sling. Need to find a place to shoot it

looks in ok shape.

look at the bolt face for really bad pitting as well as in the bore.

most of the surplus ammo for the gun IS corrosive, so clean it after you shoot it.

I <3 the guns, great fun for a cheap gun.

I thikn I'm gonna get a Curio and Relic license and gets me a K31 rifle shipped to my house.

you won't find a better built gun under 300, much less 1000

Thank god you didn't pay $150 for it.

Somebody on the forums paid $150 for one.

That's roughly double what they're worth. Not an intelligent buy.

Fun guns just to own, though.

for sure.

there's a few worth 150, Loki's just wasn't.

tear it down completely and clean it before you shoot it.

dunno if it's still packed with cosmaline or not...better to be safe than sorry.

I think I'm gonna get a C&R license soon so I can have them shipped to my house.

I overpaid, I realize that now. Gimme a break. There's not exactly a whole lot of gun stores in my area. In fact there's only the local gun shop and Gander Mountain, both of which didn't have any Mosins for less than $140.

I still like the Mosin. Fun to shoot, I'd just like to have a scope on it.

I've seen a couple. I'd love to have an era scope and go all Enemy at the Gates on something but for that kind of money I might as well just spend a bit more and buy a modern rifle with a scope

you can get the replica scopes and the mount at a fair price...but for the money spent, it'd be easier to get one of the pre assembled sniper versions (these aren't originals, but some people have put together to replicate them) for around 400

watch out for Ed Harris and his K98.

or Private Jackson and his 1903 Springfield.

I got another one recently...my uncle was in a bind for cash and selling guns so I bought an M38 Carbine off him for a C note.

I'm not sure if the gun's ever even been shot.

no pitting on the bolt face at all...it's probably the best one I've ever personally laid my hands on.

he never got to shoot it in the years he's had it...probably gonna get a scope mount and a long eye relief to throw on it for a budget hunting rig. it should be good for serviceable groups at the 300yd or so
