So, as AutomotiveSpecialtyTool.net progresses along, we'd like to get a running tally of all of the tools in which people are interested for borrowing/lending purposes.

We plan on incorporating something similar on our site to help users prioritize which tools to post up, etc...

We encourage those who have any combination of these to post them up, at no charge, on AutomotiveSpecialtyTool.net

We will be checking this thread periodically for updates, etc.

If the tool is make or model specific, please indicate that as well as part numbers/manufacturers whenever possible.

Thanks for any and all input.

Those of you that have played around with the site a bit: what do you think? easy to use? needs to be more intuitive? what can we do to make your lives easier as DIYers? Let us know when you have a minute. Thanks!

Yep. Illegal unless they're unused.

I would think a transmission jack would be a good tool to rent, however that might not be cost effective to ship!

What about like painting supplies, like an orbital sander or even some spray guns?

I would think that a nice selection of grinders or other cutting/metal working things would be good to have.

So, are you simply posting here as a means to get people to see your site and possibly rent/buy tools?

Essentially, you've got the idea. Since our launch in November, we have been trying to promote the site to owners of these high dollar, specialized tools so that we can build the P2P database of tools. Only then will it really be useful to borrowers.

We are also trying to add features as quickly as we can afford to do so to make it as user friendly as possible. We do realize that having to send multiple payments via Paypal in addition to the one processed through the site to conduct a transaction is a bit cumbersome. However, this is why we are trying to gauge feedback so we can focus our efforts on those issues which people find most important.

More BMW tools added to the "Wanted List"... We've also made some improvements to the user friendliness of the site. Feel free to take a look when you have some time.

So we've made some updates to the site. I obviously went off the grid for a while and am just now getting back into the swing of things doing some stuff online. We now have just over 100 users registered on the site and more tools than before. We are still trying to get those owners of the high dollar/sought after tools to post more of them up to continue building the database. As always, any and all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Does anyone have an R12 refrigerant extraction kit (or whatever the technical term is)?

You need an EPA license to possess a freon evacuator, as well as submit to regular inspections of the equipment in order to keep your license. Full cylinders of reclaimed freon must be sent with appropriate paperwork to an EPA authorized reclamation processor who will send you back an empty cylinder.

I would not post anything about EPA-controlled equipment on a public site unless you want to open the door for some scrutiny....
