Thanks. Since I had so much time before I put the engine in I have been able to really clean everything up. I would like it to look like the engine is made to be in the car.krayton wrote:very nice job!

1. These are the Mckinney mounts. They come in this blue color.l0nestar wrote:Clean swap man! I hope mine comes out that good. I have three ?'s for you.
1.) What is up with the blue motor-mount? I assume you made it and painted it? Very cool idea though, it goes well with the compartment.
2.) What did you do to prep your engine compartment? High detergent soap / engine gunk / oven cleaner, then semi-gloss black paint? Did you prime it first?
3.) Did you do any seam / stitch welding of the engine compartment for added strength?
Thanks!
l0nestar.
*edit* Okay 4?'s4.) Are you retaining the Air Conditioning?
i think i paid $685 for mine.Nerd_Juice wrote:Greddy hey? Hmm well that's disapointing. I was hoping there was a cheaper alternative to the Greddy one. I really would like to be able to relocate the throttle like that before I drop mine in, but I don't have the $900 to spend on a Greddy IM.
Awesome, thanks for the info! I'm debating on doing some welding while I have the motor out. I didnt know about the AC. I just started using my AC (after not for 3 years..) I kinda like it Always had it, never thought I needed it, just getting so freaking hot here, it is well over 100 with heat-index. Anyways, thanks for the info man!Reignman wrote:1. 2. First I used a lot of brake cleaner and went all around the engine bay with a rag. I hosed it down with water and went back again with the brake cleaner to get the smaller spaces. It wasnt to bad other then the crossmember and the steering rack which had a thick layer of muck I had to scrape off. After all the cleaning I scuffed up the surface to help the paint stick and then I painted it with high temp low gloss black.
3. No I didnt do any welding. At some point I might do this throughout the entire car for rigidity but for now the engine swap is enough work.
4. No. I pulled out everything for AC. Along with losing the weight I still dont think that anyone has found a way to get the AC to work like stock because the 240 and Skyline ecu's handle the AC in differant ways.
yup, just checked my reciept. i bought it through the local shop for $685. autowerks motorsports was the name. they merged with a company called godspeed here in michigan about a year ago. new shop name is Tuning Factory Inc.l0nestar wrote:Dude, where, when?

Well, that's not bad, but still a bit much for me at the moment.lucky7 wrote:i think i paid $685 for mine.
I raised the car up to the lowest height on normal jackstands (front only). I leveled the engine and trans and started to angle it in as it cleared the radiator support. It took a while once I got it in to get the engine on the mounts because it is tight. I put a jack under the trans and lifted it up to help get the engine level and on the mounts. I ended up doing this by myself so it took about 2 hours but it wasnt as bad as I thought.Flamereka wrote:I'm about to drop in my rb with transmission attached just like you.How high did you have to raise front of car? Was the car on ramps or jackstands? thanks
It was hard to measure on the car but it was around 7" diameter. Here is a pic of the clearance with the manifold. It doesnt look like you could get a much larger compressor housing without a T3 spacer.wawazat8402 wrote:Any chance you know the outside diameter of your compressor housing? Im looking at upgrading my turbo and am curious how much I will have to add with my adapter box to get the housing to clear.
BTW, it def shows how much time you took to do it right. Very nice swap!
*sigh* i meant the entire engine...........0wn3r wrote:where'd you source it?
