Well its been about 8 months since I got the RB25 and finally got it in the car today. I still need to get a Power FC, intercooler, and fab a downpipe before I can get it running but this is a big step. Hopefully soon I can post a video of it running and driving

Thanks. Since I had so much time before I put the engine in I have been able to really clean everything up. I would like it to look like the engine is made to be in the car.

That's awesome man! Good job!

Two quick questions for you though. What kind of paint is that on the head, and what kind of intake manifold is that?

The paint is a high temp crinkle paint. It sprays on like normal paint but after about 6 hours it has a nice texture to it. I found it at Pep Boys. The first pics I posted give it a pinkish color because of the flash, its actually a darker red. Here is a better pic of the paint without a flash. The intake manifold is Greddy.

The previous owner I bought the engine from already had the Greddy manifold on there.

Greddy hey? Hmm well that's disapointing. I was hoping there was a cheaper alternative to the Greddy one. I really would like to be able to relocate the throttle like that before I drop mine in, but I don't have the $900 to spend on a Greddy IM.

Clean swap man! I hope mine comes out that good. I have three ?'s for you.

1.) What is up with the blue motor-mount? I assume you made it and painted it? Very cool idea though, it goes well with the compartment.

2.) What did you do to prep your engine compartment? High detergent soap / engine gunk / oven cleaner, then semi-gloss black paint? Did you prime it first?

3.) Did you do any seam / stitch welding of the engine compartment for added strength?

Thanks!

l0nestar.

*edit* Okay 4?'s4.) Are you retaining the Air Conditioning?

1. These are the Mckinney mounts. They come in this blue color.

2. First I used a lot of brake cleaner and went all around the engine bay with a rag. I hosed it down with water and went back again with the brake cleaner to get the smaller spaces. It wasnt to bad other then the crossmember and the steering rack which had a thick layer of muck I had to scrape off. After all the cleaning I scuffed up the surface to help the paint stick and then I painted it with high temp low gloss black.

3. No I didnt do any welding. At some point I might do this throughout the entire car for rigidity but for now the engine swap is enough work.

4. No. I pulled out everything for AC. Along with losing the weight I still dont think that anyone has found a way to get the AC to work like stock because the 240 and Skyline ecu's handle the AC in differant ways.

Awesome, thanks for the info! I'm debating on doing some welding while I have the motor out. I didnt know about the AC. I just started using my AC (after not for 3 years..) I kinda like it Always had it, never thought I needed it, just getting so freaking hot here, it is well over 100 with heat-index. Anyways, thanks for the info man!

very clean looking, congrats! like you said, hopefully you can get it running soon and share more pics, etc! i've got a little bit more to go on mine still, but it's getting there. i'm going for that super clean look also.

btw, i got my greddy mani for 600 so it can be done for that little. buy a lot of parts from the same company and they tend to help you out a bit! the only thing that kinda sucks is that the manifold didn't come with the greddy decal that goes on the top of the mani, which is no big deal really but it just looks kinda weird with the outline for the logo and nothing inside. anyone know where to find it online?

Any chance you know the outside diameter of your compressor housing? Im looking at upgrading my turbo and am curious how much I will have to add with my adapter box to get the housing to clear.

BTW, it def shows how much time you took to do it right. Very nice swap!

I raised the car up to the lowest height on normal jackstands (front only). I leveled the engine and trans and started to angle it in as it cleared the radiator support. It took a while once I got it in to get the engine on the mounts because it is tight. I put a jack under the trans and lifted it up to help get the engine level and on the mounts. I ended up doing this by myself so it took about 2 hours but it wasnt as bad as I thought.

It was hard to measure on the car but it was around 7" diameter. Here is a pic of the clearance with the manifold. It doesnt look like you could get a much larger compressor housing without a T3 spacer.

I got the engine from a guy on the boards. I think he originally sourced it through Venus Auto.
