:ylsuper Finally, after 3 years of saving and waiting, i got it. Waiting paid off. I got my 240!!! 1996 base model, red (manual 5-speed, of course). Already started the tuning. Got the Injen Cold Air that everyone says to get. Oh well. Just wanted to say whats up and wish me luck with my new car.

Not everyone!! At this point it is almost as if I have a personal vendetta against Injen!!! (AEM rocks!!) And yeah... good luck with your car... sounds like you scored a good one.

It was a 1996 240SX base in red. I got lucky and bought it from a dealer a little ways away from my house. It was actually a Certified Toyota Dealership but they got a 240 for trade in and I got lucky so when they put it up on autotrader i snagged it within 3 hours. It was funny b/c the sticker price was $9900 and i got the car for $7300. I was looking for a 240 everyday for the last 2 years so when i saw this, i knew that it was the one so i went out and picked it up. -52,500 miles-Body in almost perfect condition except for a small door ding in the front right fender.-perfect paint (orig)-super clean interior (no fading)-It was cleaned up well by the dealer so it is in really good condition. I will try to upload some pics, they may be really low quality.

Really nice car, great condition, good luck with it. Its funny I bought my base 96 from a Certified Toyota Dealership also, only mine had 78k and I got it for 5600. Seems like you got a good deal.

Only thing I don't like about the base.....NO LSD!! Hopefully that will change over this winter.

Your better off just taking out the factory airbox and using a K&N cone air filter rather than buying a whole intake unless you want the chromed out look. The piping is the same size.

NOT TRUE... and my AEM doesn't have an ounce of chrome on it! You can hold the AEM tube, and the stock tube side by side and there are three MAJOR differences. The AEM (and most other after-market tubes) are far superior to stock because:

1. the pipe is round (no narrow passages like the stock one)

2. the pipe has a larger overall diameter

3. it is a more straight, direct route to the tb.

Also... the AEM pipe is powder/zinchronium coated for heat insulation. It may not get you MUCH more HP than the K&N drop in filter.... but if you start adding header, exhaust, cams, etc... it will net a bigger gain for sure.

Thanks for the input guys. Well i just want to save right now. I just wanted an intake go get myself started but hopefully i can get the 300zx brake and hub conversion, shocks/springs, wheels, sway bars and the LSD by X-Mas time. Its coming up soon so i have to get moving.

Congrats! I'm buying a '96 240 myself...It's an SE, 5-speed, but it has 121k miles... I'm jealous of your odometer. :D

I really can't wait until my Probe sells so I can take the 240 for good.

When i was shopping, all i was finding were cars with really high milage that were in my price range, but this was in my price range and surprisingly had pretty low miles for that model year. I was planning on doing a SR to the 240 i was going to get (high milage) but after talking to other 240 owners, i think i may do a KA-T considering my milage. Well, all we can do now is wait and see, right?

You could have done w/o the headlights. I think exhaust, then brakes, then headers, then pulleys, but that's just me.

...I don't think the 300zx brake upgrade is all that necessary for you n/a KA people..that's just what I've gathered.
