nice list I sure would like to see pics..I'm also thinking of my next swap and it involves a 300zx tt engine in a 240sx..hopefully i can get it done..my only problem so far is goin to be the making it single turbo.
actually it can be done in a 240 as someone in japan had done it. BTW if you can find the motor from Nissan Cedric/Gloria... you will have yourself a single turbo. "VG30DET" just my $.02

these are examples of what this setup looks like.

VG30DET in a 240SX

Don't know what this car is but i think its a Datsun 510?????

This is the enginebay of a Gloria.

i dont really know how hard it is to find these motors. but i think if you know any importers they could find one pretty easy. the Gloria is a popular car in Japan. It also has the same chassis as a J30.

well, rhd drive cars dont have to worry bout steering colum issues right? I know that there has to be away. if people are dropping rb26s in 240s, then there has to be away to modify a motor to fit.

I know from what I read bout speedoc's vg30et swapped m30, the turbo was at the steering rack and was a very tight fit.

but anything is possible.

Wes - the pix were on FA.

anyone can post pictures saying its their car and it was done.. but he only posted 1 pic... its a lagit pic, but it wasnt enough for him... how hard is it to post more pics? like from away from the car or what ever... I mean when i finish my project you guys are not going to believe me if i just post a pic of the in cabin shot of the 5speed.... with me saying its a q45 with a heavily modified motor. your not going to believe it, and i WOULD post more then one pic at request. But I mean c'mon he just posted one pic, i doubt that its his car to begin with.

I am just finishing up my VG30DETT swap into my 1993 J30. There are a lot of modifications that you have to do. I read some of the info on this forum about the swap and some of the info is incorrect. For one you cannot use the 300ZX motor mounts. The are too wide because the J30 and the 300zx front cross members are different. You have to modify the J30 motor mounts and brackets slightly to clear the turbos. I also got the oil filter relocation kit, but you will have to modify it slightly to clear the front crossmember. To make things easier you will also have to switch the fuel regulators and piping so that you will not have to run extra fuel line. There are a lot of other things that have to be done for this swap too. If you need help hit me up at [email protected].

I also have done some other mods to help out with the swap also.- Toyota Supra TT wheels with stock J30 center caps to have that stock look.- Stock 2004 Infiniti G35 exhaust piping to have a single exit exhaust.

The automatic transmission is holding up pretty well, but I am about to add the HKS ALC II AUTO LINE CONTROLLER for the 300ZX for some added protection.

I am using the stock J30 computer with Greddy E-manage to run the motor and it works great.

Like I said before, if you need help, hit me up and I can give you all the info you need.

I just had a minor setback. I had gotten a used motor with about 140,000 miles on it. I did a leakdown test on it and everything worked out good. After about 2 days of use the bottom end locked up on me. SO I am pulling the motor back out and adding a lot of extra goodie ). I will take pics this time and I will be showing all the extra goodies. Just a hint I am adding new turbos with external wastegates and forged internals. It will only take a few days to do everything so the pics will be up by the weekend.

The previous pic was an old one, but the my J30 looks very different now. Especially with the Supra wheels. But let me get to work.

Your J looks sweet, and I bet the engine will be ever sweeter. Any details on the internals or what kind of turbos you getting? Any problems with turbos clearing the steering or strut housings?

I would really love to have a garage like that, is it yours?? I see you have an SC400 in the back, dont tell me your dropping a TT in there too.

The only problem I had with clearance issues was th oil filter relocation and the the steering joint rubbing on the down pipe on the turbo. A little grinding and that problem was solved with the steering. Some 90 degree fittings took care of the oil relocation fittings clearing the front crossmember. I am holding out on all the details on the turbos and upgrades, but I will say that the turbos are Triple K K26. I will post the other upgrades in a few days after I decide which route I am going to take.

ACtually, the J30 has tons of room in the engine bay. It is not as cramped as in the 300 ZX. I even ran the intercooler piping with out relocating the battery. Damn I am good. LOL I will post pics for those who need it.

For anyone that want this swap, I can do it for the right price. I only charge $1000 plus parts the swap and I will give you a 2 day turnaround as long as all the parts are there. If you want to do it yourself, I will be more than happy to give you all the tech support and info you need to complete the swap. I have had lots of help in the past from complete strangers and friends. I will help anyone as much as I can.

Progress is going good. I am waiting on a few more parts to come in amd the motor should be ready to drop in the car by the end of this week. My goal is around 450hp to the wheels.

Actually it is a special edition Momo Diablo. The Civic Hatch next to it puts out almost the same horsepower as the Lambo.

Progress is going good. I had to stop work on the car for a little bit. Our audio/security guy had to quit and I have had to pull double duty in both the audio/security dept and performance dept. I have been so busy!!!!! But I am going to pull a cpl of all nighters and get the job done before the Nopi Show at Buds Creek in Maryland. That is my goal to debut it.
