So this is my first post and I wish I could be posting under better conditions..

I got my 3.5 Coupe Friday around 1ish (took the afternoon from work to close on the paperwork). As any eager new owner would, i decided to push it every chance I got. It caught up to me leaving my buddies place in Maine. A nice fat $183 ticket for going 63 in a 45.

This car is too fun to drive to keep it the speed limit... there goes my insurance.

I was reading a few threads earlier about the best radar detector. It seems like its a toss up between the Valentine 1 and the Escort (whatever model it was). I know they dont prevent you from getting tickets, but they sure do help. I've done so well in the past 4 years with tickets, i've had to develop my own situational awareness to spot for signs of speed traps... alas.. I got bagged today because I let my gaurd down.

Anyone wann pay for it?

YOU LOSE!

haha, on a serious note - ive had my escort 9500i for almost a year now, its definatly saved my a FEW times easily now how ever if i had a faster daily driver (like an s4 or m3), i would invest into a laser jammer

I think i have a thing for your car... the super black with those rims look pimp. I need to find a nice set that goes with the slate grey.

Random and off topic.

Do they make turbo's yet for the CVT? I was kind of regretting getting the CVT right when i was signing the paperwork. I've never hand an "automatic" before... it sort of feels like driving a sick go cart.

About the turbo this is what i know. Stillen is or was creating a turbo kit for the 2.5. Blake is currently having a turbo kit installed on his 3.5 CVT. Blake probally would probally have more info on the subject than me. thats what i know though

Go to court and contest it. If you don't have many tickets on your record, the judge will note that and my let you off. You can also try and work it, let him know you just got the car and just didn't realize you were going that fast. Worse case sinario, they usually reduce the amount of the ticket and the judge should also offer you to go to traffic school. You can do that once a year and keep the ticket off your insurance.

I would, but there are two problems that sort of prevent me from going to court.

1.) its in Maine, i live in Mass, so its a pain to take a day off to drive all the way up there.

2.).. I had a few drinks before leaving. Well enough to be able to drive and I think under the legal limit. The cop must have smelled it on me becuase he gave me a brief field sobriety test by having me follow a pen side to side without turning my head. I aced it, because I was very under control, but if I go to court and he brings that up I bet i'd lose in a heart beat.

I think i'm just going to have to eat this ticket and deal with the increase in my insurance. I wish I had all state because I havent had a ticket in so long they could maybe forego it. Call it an "oopsie i got a new car ticket".

Well Mass just happens to not be a member of DLC, Driver License Compact, which is an agreement to exchange information concerning license suspensions and traffic violations of non-residents between states.

So there might be a chance that insurance might not find out and the points might not be transferred, not positive though.

That would be AWESOME! I guess i'll have to wait and see. Come to think of it, in all my inter New England traveling I've never gotten a ticket outside of Mass. Man i hope your right. 183 bucks no problemo. Shh*iit, i'll go up to maine and keep speeding there :P

EDIT-

Just did some more research.... and i'm screwed. Mass is not part of the DLC which is sort of a Universal License, but it is part of the Non Resident Violator Compact. Basically if i get a ticket elsewhere Mass wants to know about it so they can proceed to screw me..

Damn you Taxachusetts!!

i've been pulled over abot half a dozen times and have 0 tickets on my record. i opt for defensive driving and hire an attorney who just spends all day in traffic court. i did have one guilty verdict in my neighboring state and my insurance never heard from it or let it go.

my point is i think they usually dont go throuh te trouble of sharing your ticket with another state if youve just had one for a minor violation. if you had gottena DWI they would definately get it, or of course if you got into a car accident. i think youre safe. you shoulda told the cop you had just gotten it and are still getting used to it.

I tried the I just got the car excuse but it rolled off his back "license registration please".

Funny thing is the dude pulled me over on the onramp to the highway. isnt that technically Statey (State Highway Police) territory and out of the jurisdiction of the officer?
