Check your timing. That seems to be the problem with most installs. Make sure that you are running the 15degs as persribed.

Sorry I can't be more help but that is the main error when doing the instal

Yeah, it maybe the timing. Make sure you got the base timing right (read S14 SR FSM), then adjust it to 15 BTDC on 1st cylinder compression cycle.

The stock exhaust is your bottle neck. I had the exact same experience that you did. The car pulled alright, but the curve felt pretty flat from 4000 on up. Once I put the 3inch exhaust on, the car really came alive. It's an entirely new experience. Trust me, get a good exhaust, and pretty soon you'll be surprised how quickly you find yourself flying toward redline.

What everyone needs to realize is that the SR is only 205 flywheel HP. I think that everyone's overexpectations are what kills that first ride.

Just like Phax said... get yourself about a 3" exhaust, Walbro fuel pump, and possibly a bigger FMIC. Fuel and exhaust itself would cut it off big time. Are you also running stock injectors?

Except for me because I hooked up my greddy bov wrong and the wastegate never got a signal. I was really surprised at how fast it was, then I installed a boost gauge and suddenly 8 psi felt so slow.

This is so true.

Though I will tell you to ditch that exhaust and it will feel alot quicker.

Mine was. After my first drive with the SR and a stock exhaust, I was ready to come on these boards and tell all perspective swappers to not even bother. To me, the SR and stock exhaust felt like a waste of money. I felt that I could have just strapped a bottle onto the KA and gotten the same sort of power increase, and I probably could have.

Once I got an exhaust on there though, it's a whole different car. Now I can comfortably drive in 45mph zones while still in 3rd gear. There's something great about a car that can drive along legally at the speed limit with everyone else, yet at the same time, with a couple seconds worth of gas peddle and no downshift, you can be right into "Pull me over and take my car away" speeds. =)

15 degrees Before top dead center. The instructions on how to set timing for the SR are on page EC-35 through EC-40. Or 173 to 178 in regular page form.

Pardon my ignorance, but how can you not know what btdc means?

I just figured that if you can figure out how to swap in an SR, you should know what that means.

after driving a beater tempo for 3 years that could barely get 90 crank HP, the SR on 2 1/2 inch exhaust felt wonderful. if it wasn't for the fact that the timing was off, i would have bought it that day :D
