Let me preface this by saying that normally I'm a diehard NGK guy and swear by them but I couldn't resist checking out http://www.pulstarplug.com/ after seeing it in Popular Science awhile back. Seeing good reviews on them after preliminary testing only further peaked my interested.

So after speaking with a really cool guy at Enerpulse, and getting an offer I couldn't refuse, I got this box in the mail today

With six of these badboys inside

Come nicer weather (like spring) they will go in my Z32 and I'll test them out. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they are as good as advertised

They can be had from our sponsor Sparkplugs.com if anybody wants to check them out by the way.

Which car are you putting them in? If you're putting them in one with a dizzy, pull all the plugs out, then put some of the regular plugs in the wires and some of the Pulstar's in the wires and set them on a good ground (manifold, valve cover(s), etc.), set engine to TDC, mark rotor location in the dist. cap, pull the distributor out, have the ignition in the on position (I'd pull the fuel pump fuse first as the injectors will fire), and finally give the distributor a spin. This will fire the spark plugs and will instantly show if you can see a difference. You may not want to mess with all that but would definitely be an easy way to see a visual first hand difference.

Darn... though you could actually do the same pulling the CAS and having the coil/plug combo sitting out...

Would it be safe to run NGK iridiums in a N/A?

Or you can see our little machine we got in action. Its just a coil and two wires and two plugs and plugs into the wall. when we first got it i turned it on and saw the pulstar was quite a bit brighter and a larger spark, i too use ngk, not the iridiums though, so what was in the other side? NGK platinum, so first i switch the wires, i switch the terminals on the coil, got another plug, i've tried autolite, bosch etc, and nothing is as powerful of a spark.

Ran them for a week at a variety of plug gaps. I've had the NGK's back in the car ever since.

Answer enough?

..and for the heck of it, I took an old OEM NGK Platnum I had lying around down to a local auto parts store and compared it to an NGK Iridium that some places sell supposedly ok for the Z engine. The Iridium is 1/4" shorted in the threaded portion. If you look at the head from the chamber side with a correct Platinum plug installed, the plug electrode is fully in the chamber. The threaded portion actually screws in right to the roof of the chamber. With the supposed correct Iridium, the electrode would not be in the chamber, it would be slightly inside the threaded hole.Very much doubt this plug would work as well, or any other plug for that matter as the Platium is a special length. I compared quite a few others on the shelf and none were the same all being shorter.
