I heard the CVT is bad.
Why is nissan altima so cheap for good options?
For example:
1. Heated seats
2. 1 touch up and down window for front driver and front passenger
3. dual climate controls
4. keyless start
5. leather seats
6. sunroof
7. SL package but the car is an S model

Price for only 11k and 65k miles.
That seems crazy.
Its from a okay trustable dealership which is Fitzgerald if your in the maryland area.

What is the highest altima can get? I am 20 and looking to trade in my camry for that exact altima.
Right now my camry has 188k and its running strong as ever and no major problem. The only problem was the windshield washer pump needed to be replaced and the engine mount.

What year Altima are you considering to purchase? In a nutshell Nissan's resale value isn't as high as Toyota's or Honda's. However, We will not be able to speak intelligently about the vehicle you're considering without knowing the year, condition, or without carfax related information, etc.

The Altima is a good vehicle...the '07 you're considering seems on point price wise --- of course you should negotiate the best price possible for any vehicle you consider. Like I said previously, Nissan's resale value just isn't as strong as the like of Toyota and Honda, but Nissan builds a reliable and fun to drive vehicle that's affordable to own. You'll definitely enjoy the driving the Altima more than your Camry, since Toyota's are typically "boring" vehicles to drive. :yesnod

I have recently purchased two Altima SL's.
2008 w/ 105000 now has 110000 and a 2010. with 105000 now has 108000. Both are running very strong.

Absolutely love both to them.

Bought both for 9800.00/ea. The 2008 was spotless, garage kept and lady driven. The 2010 was kept outside , lady driven and had slight rear bumper damage, nothing extensive but enough to get the price down, but it also has many more features the 2008 does not have. Backup camera, MP2 player, USB/Ipod port and hands free blue tooth phone.

The 2010 drives more like a Mom and Dads car, the 2008 more like a sports car. Both cars cruse at 80 like they are yawning at an idle.

The 2008 seems to be a lighter car, has more pep but does not have the insulation the 2010 has in the road noise area. The 2010 seems to be a heavier car. They did change the final drive ratio in the 2010 to get slightly better gas mileage. Not worth the extra mile you get in my opinion, 5 - 10 maybe but not 1 mpg.

I did a lot of research before buying and have come to the conclusion that many of the cvt problems are caused by abuse, self maintenance or taking it to places like Jiffy Lube. I let a GOOD dealer take care of my cvt and they (Dealers) are not all equal. Everything else I do myself, they are very easy cars to work on.

Download the service manual for your car and interview them to see if they are giving you a straight story before they touch your car.

Due to the mileage I had to replace the front struts on the 2008, will be doing the 2010 soon and did the rotors and brakes on the 2008 due to a warped rotor.
If you have to take it to have this to be serviced you are looking at 1200 - 1800.

Probably should place my next order before letting this out but I bought the parts at rockauto.com
266 for both front struts, approx. 118 ea. plus shipping, complete assembly with new springs and bearings, eight bolts off, right back on and re aligned, drives like a new car. No compressing the spring if you buy the entire assembly.
142.00 for 4 rotors and brake pads. Be sure to follow the recommended break-in procedure.

Dealers by from auction and will tell you what you want to hear to make a sell. They have no clue about the history other than car fax. "Oh we will have our service department look at that"... it will never happen!!!

My rules, Buy private owner, use NADA and buy at or just above rough to fair dealer trade in but make sure the body and interior is spotless Hagel on maintenance items due, brakes, tires, struts. be sure to check engine mounts.
Buy lady driven, garage kept with documented maintenance. Private owners will usually take a couple hundred over what a dealer will offer them and you will get a much better deal on a car.

Do not be in a rush, good deals take time to find. Save your money and pay cash when you can.

Bottom line is both me any my wife absolutely love these cars.
Mom and Dad have a 2011 Maxima but the mileage was not real good, but by god it hauls balls, I can not afford the gas and tickets.

Do not be rushed, find a good car and do your research, I think you will like these cars.

One more thing I did, when you pull up to a light and see one, ask the owner how they like it. I heard nothing but "Love it"

How long does an altima last without much work other than engine oil change, like basic stuff. Like I said my camry has high mileage and its still running strong as I got it at 150k. How long does the cvt last?

Late model Nissan's have CVT warranty coverage up to 120k miles. How long a CVT last will depends on how the car is driven on a daily basis (if the car is being beaten, pulling excessive weight, et cetera), and whether or not the CVT is properly serviced in accordance with Nissan's recommended interval. There are tons of folks with CVTs with 150k miles on them without issue.
