I never said it was weak, I just called it a coke can ;) Nathan and soft metals dont go well together, I'd find some way to screw it up just doing normal work.

nah those SR blocks are pretty stout, a friendis running 520whp on a SR block, stock liners etc... forged internals... no probs...

but anyway, both are great motors,

and in a few years teh CA will be like the FJ is now (reverd and respected but old and scarce, hard to find parts and service) and the SR will be like the CA is now, competitive with the newer engines and a relly good platform, but parts will be scarce...

buy then the QR20VET & QR25VE would have taken over, and everyone would be comparing them to the SR

I think the CA will stick around a bit longer than one may expect! It is a very advanced piece of machinery and is very well capable of humping with some of today's motors. Let's face it, it's amazing that we can take a 12-15 y/o motor, throw it in a car in it's stock form and kick some butt. My engines models are 1989-90 and they handled their business without being opened up for refreshing or upgrades. Says plenty about the durability and longevity as well craftsmanship. And to be a 1.8litre pushing out 125hp in 1988 would deem this one of the best, if not the best 4cylinder under 2litres of that era. And heck, it still out perform some of the crap that's being created today. As for the SR, well, they must have the crappiest oil pumps in the business because I've seen too many had oil pump failure. I say pick whatever motor you want, I personally would stick with the smaller, yet lethal CA. I'm almost sure anyone of you can make your CA's put out similar #'s if you spend the money in a decent fuel management because the stock stuff isn't going to cut it.

T-get Silvia 700hp CA all day long. It ain't cheap but the engine can handle it.
