Well, as several of you know, I was laid off back in September from my cushy-but-challenging gig with the State, resulting in my income going from nice to nada overnight...

Job market was horrible, and over 40 resumes went out with nary a response. In a panic, I took a sales gig with Infiniti of Scottsdale to keep the ship afloat until things improved. Certainly not my cup of tea (for several reasons), and each week that passed working at the dealership deepened my depression.

Well, yesterday I received a job offer with another State agency, in my field of expertise. I'll be a Special Investigator / Auditor for ADHS starting 1/3/04, a block from my old office.

A tad less money than I was pulling before, but much more security and more opportunities to sprint up the proverbial ladder.

Thanks to those of you who knew and prayed - A huge weight has been lifted....

Good to hear it Greg!

I just recently relocated and changed jobs as a result... to a LOT lower income than back on Maine. So, I feel your pain with the tightened 'purse straps' thing!

So... now that you're making the big bucks again... could I borrow some?:pface

SBS - Relatively fast... Whew. Glad you think so.

It's been almost 4 months of hell for me. No benefits, decimated my mutual funds, working way too many hours doing something I don't like for way too little money, all the while wondering if we'll lose the house or if an unexpected bill will show up... SOOO glad it's over. :)

p.s. ADHS = AZ Dept of Health Svcs.

I'll probably restrict my NICO time to lunch and breaks but I'll be no less active... I typically put in an hour or two each night as well as several hours on the weekend fulfilling my NICO duties.

Thats great news AZ but like Mr1der asked, just what does a "Special Investigator / Auditor" working for the ADHS do anyway? Just curious.

I'll primarily be investigating "critical incidents" of all kinds. Anything that represents a liability for the state... Non-compliance with statutes, rules and policies, abuse, neglect, misappropriation of $$$, personnel issues, contract violations, etc.

My auditing duties will extend pretty broadly as well - ADHS has a HUGE oversight role in the state.
