i have finally gotten this S14 engine running, but now i am having a problem with a possible limphome failure. I have tried all the usual routes of finding this problem but i have yet to run across it. The only thing i have found to cause a possible limphome failure is the MAF. the symtoms that follow with the limphome failure are cannot rev over 2000-2500 rpm. I have checked for battery voltage to the MAF and i have a perfect 12.0 or better. with the ignition on i have continuity on the white wire from MAF to pin #27 on ecu which is the postive feed from the MAF. i also have continuity from the black wire on MAF to ground. i have also tried swapping MAF's with an S13 SR and still the same problem exsists. I have even tried to swap out the ECU's. still nothing. If anyonw can give me an idea as to what this might be please feel free to give me your 2 cents. I am not sure if i should rule out the possbilities of the TPS but i am not aware of the TPS sending the ECU into limphome mode.

perhaps your problems lies in that you checked with a S13 MAF instead of a stock one?

we tried a s14 maf before the s13 maf, and we have the same problem ethier way, we check the voltage current from the s14 maf and we are gettin a low .38v, when the fsm says it should be between .8-1.5 volts at idle

You could try electronics contact cleaner spray on the maf and connector plug. My Q45 started running horribly and i bought a can of that stuff and it ran better than ever after.

i found it..the white wire (signal wire) coming fromt he MAF to the ECU inside the shielding it has somehow grounded itself . i checked and rechecked my wiring splices which were undisturbed. so i cut the MAF signal wire near the MAF plug and then cut it near the ECU and ran a jumper to bypass the whit wire in the harness alltogether and <PRESTO>she runs like a top....man what a pain that was. If anyone might know the part number at napa for the shielded wire they sell, (its the exact same shielded wire that nissan uses) that would be a real help. now all i have to do is run a new shielded wire through the harness and through the firewall and i should be all done
