There was this guy I knew on IRC from #cars and from Jagsource.org. He seemed pretty cool, and he wanted to sell me a used iMac for $175. Price was right, so I sent him the money via paypal in November 2003.

He first said shipping was slow, then said he was hospitalized for an injury, then he had to go visit his sick grandmother, than the postal service left it on a shipping dock, then he "forgot", and now he doesnt response to any emails.

What can I do? Am I screwed?

Henry J. Fok from Dallas TX owes me.

File a complaint through Paypal.

I got ripped off for $30 through Ebay... it was the ONE time I used a money order instead of Paypal. But, I think I'm going to file mail fraud charges since it was a postal money order and shipped through the USPS.

Best of luck... it is truly unfortunate that people behave like this. They are pathetic and give everyone a bad name.

Oh well. Looks like its time to plan a road trip. We'll see what the post office says.

Thanks again!-Jesda

Jesda - Post up his info (email addy, screenname on the other forums, IP addy, etc.) We can shame him into returning your $$$.

If you can get me an address, I can stop by on my way back from Austin... Might cost you a percentage, but I'm more effective than a collection agency. :)

did you use credit card through paypal or a bank transfer/paypal balance? if you used credit car file a claim with your credit car company (most will let you file claims much longer than 30 days).

I did some googling, and emailed a Jaguar owner who was ripped off by him. He sent me an extensive email documenting the hell he went through, plus this URL:http://www.apple2.org/HenryRipoff.html

Interestingly, out of nowhere I recently got an email from Henry with a valid tracking number:http://www.fedex.com/cgi-bin/t...80084

We'll see when the package arrives Saturday. Hope its not a box of bricks.

And no, this Henry Fok is not the same as the Hong Kong crime boss, but that certainly is ironic. :)

Ahh yes! Nick fixed it for me. I went to change my email address and it refused to recognize that I reactivated my account.

And on the plus side, I had a chat with Henry and everything arrived in excellent condition. I'm happy with my iMac. :)

He's had a rough year I guess so I'll give the guy a break. I just wish he didnt leave me in limbo for such a long time wondering wtf was up.
