got rid of my ca, looking at another.. need opinions.

hey guys im back, with an update. i sold my beat up ca because we found out it had rusted rings. i was looking at venus auto today and noticed a ca motorset.. curious if anyone has any experience with venus? im getting about 3,500$ within the next week and i want to play with something before i go to the sand box in afghanistan and i figure.. buy another ca, and take the leftover money and buy a fmic, walbro, and an sr t25. and the good electronics. i have a blitz realise tt exhaust. just want some opinions.. my other choice was an s14 sr20.. but if i got this, no extra money.

What about all the replacement stuff you should do? New clutch, new gaskets, new tubes, new valve seals (probably).

I dont know about you, but I took a look at my motorset and found alot of this needed to be done. It is a 15 year old motor after all...

I bought through Venus. Motor was in great shape and they were good to me.

I got mine from Venus. It was OK. It was a clip and I wasn't super impressed. The clip was very incomplete, and the compression and leakdown tests came out on the very bottom of the OK range. I ended up having to rebuild the motor later.

From what I have heard, Venus was great 2 years ago, but because of their supplying SCC a SR for Project Silvia and the subsequent increase in business, their motorsets have gone down in quality. Now this is just what I have heard. I bought from JHot (www.jhotexports.com)
