3 lane road, disabled car in center lane in middle of an intersection...wife was driving in center lane, I was passenger...she stopped behind another car who did not see the disabled car in front...a Scion coupe slammed the passenger side rear corner, more of a glancing blow...Scion's headlamp pushed back to wheelwell, sheetmetal peeled like sardine can...Rogue bumper retained shape, just looks like a really bad scrape with a cut where the metal bumper framing punched thru. No injuries, looking like I'll get a whole new bumper and some innards underneath. All in all, pretty good, I was expecting much more damage considering I saw the Scion's carnage first.

Most important, I'm glad you and your wife were not hurt.

Secondly, I'm glad to hear the Rogue withheld alright. I hope their insurance is able to get you back to the mint condition it started.

I want to get the bumper protector as loading & loading golf clubs has put a ding or 2 in the bumper and maybe I can get my pass door buffed out to remove the scratches from some a$$'s stray door.

I just got rear ended by as neon going at 40 km/h and there was not much visible damage. The final bill to the insurance company should be around $7500. They are still determining the exact amount

MY wife's ins co (Met Life) just told me I have to pay my deductible and if the other ins co decides to they'll re-imburse me....BULLCRAP! That is why my wife has MetLife and I still keep USAA on my car. USAA doesn't play that crap.

If the person accepted the responsibility of the crash, you should not pay a dime for the repair and your record should stay as clear as water.

I had an accident with my previous car and the guy agreed this was his fault. He maintains that story when my insurance called him (which was not the case on a previous accident ), and I did not pay anything, just the fuel for the rental I got while the car was repaired.

If the other one decides to contest the fact he was in fault, the insurance company will put you in half and half responsibility, you will have to pay your deductible and you will have a record in your file (meaning your insurance will increase for several years in order the insurance company to reimburse itself on your back ).

Always asked witnesses to give you their name and phone number if you feel the other won't play fare (but it is hard to get and to remember when you just been hit).

Adjuster came out and was here for all of 30secs..he said bumper neds replacing...no ****...also said that we are eating the deductible unless the other ins co accepts responsibility...getting police report tomorrow AM, he said that even if the police report shows the other driver at fault, the ins co can still refuse to pay...Getting a MetLife rep to call you back is nearly impossible..I want the car fixed at no cost to me, plus a rental. MetLife better ink that deal or I have to take the other driver to small claims I guess...this **** is annoying.

See I wonder if it is their official policy to be a pain in the a$$ and have poor customer service. Perhaps people in the industry get trained to make things difficult on us poor schmucks?

Sorry to hear that. Happened to me couple of months ago. Hope you have more luck with the repaint than I have. The car is in for the 3th time to have my rear bumper repainted. They just cant seem to get the color right. I am supposed to pick up the car today, so I am keeping my fingers crossed they matched the paint better this time.

Just picked up the car, still the paint does not match Talked to the shopforeman who agrees the paint is off. They seem to have a real problem matching the paint, eventhough the paint swab for the colorcode seems to be right on. I am going to have to take it back and he said he would try a different paint brand and he would paint it himself. This is a royal pain. By the way it was a new bumper which had to be painted.

Well, it was my turn to get rear-ended yesterday. The Rogue isn't even a month old yet

It happened in stop and go traffic. I was stopped a safe distance from the car in front when I felt the "nudge". I looked in my rear view to see a woman with her face in her hands looking horrified. I didn't see a cell phone though. When I told my wife, she said "how could she not see your car, it's ORANGE!"

The Rogue held up pretty well, there were a few large scrapes that went through the paint but no real dents that I could discern.

I have RBC Insurance. Since the other driver was clearly at fault this will not go against my record. RBC arranged to have the Rogue picked up at my residence by their preferred body shop. At the same time the Rogue was picked up a loaded 2008 Toyota Camry was dropped off as a replacement vehicle for my use during the repair. I drove it today. I want my Rogue back

Now it's just a question of how good a job the body shop is going to do matching the Orange Alloy colour...

My body shop is painting the bumper off the Rogue, should be done next week. If it matches, it will be installed in less than a day (if there is no hidden damage, they ordered a few key parts that may be damaged just in case). Got a check for $710 to cover it...the body shop rep kinda squinted at it and said they'd do it for that...but I don't think they were all too pleased.

Round 1 at the Body shop:

Bubbles/ particulate in paint under clear coat on both rear corners..looks like paint droplets...looks like it would feel bumpy but is smooth to touch

Shop owner made appt in 2 weeks to repaint.

Hidden damage: couple of bent shields underneath and the "peninsula" of unibody that fits into the rear bumper's corners was pushed in a 1/2". Couldn't tell until new bumper was installed and the gap was visible. Had to remove pass side cargo interior panels to push panel out and re-align.

Paint: Picked it up on a cloudy morning, bumper looks slightly too dark. I know paint matching in not an exact science...will have to see how it looks when the sun finally comes out. Ins co did not authorize a blend to match.

Update in 2 weeks.

Just a follow up to my story...I got my 2008 Orange Alloy Rogue back after just two days at the body shop...the shop did an amazing job and my Rogue looks brand new again

I REALLY feel for you folks who have had issues

For Canadians, I would recommend RBC Insurance after this...I went with their preferred shop, the service was fast and the end result excellent.

Got it back yesterday after having to cancel for a week due to a change in my schedule. Speckling is gone, shop needed to double strain after mixing to remove some particulate...now I have the opposite, little pits in the paint that I CAN feel. WTF?! I took this to a reputable shop that I see high-end cars in & out of all the time. I asked other people I knew were customers and checked out the work done to their cars...it was nice. I guess I'm not destined to have anything nice stay nice...

Dude I feel your pain. I got rear ended in Canada on the QEW 10 minutes in. It seems Canada is a no fault country so I had to pay my $1000 deductible. This weekend past, I was rear ended in VA. At least the other drivers insurance State Farm has assumed liability. I have to say they have been exceptional in expediting the repair process and getting me another car to drive.

Hope things work out for you.

Yes... and no. If the other driver recognizes he was at fault (and continue to say that to your insurance company), the repair are free of charge with no deductible.

The part I don't understand is when it is obvious you are not at fault, why you have to be liable on someone else.

I have the two cases: Got in two different accidents, both were not my fault. Both recognizes that was their fault. With the first one, he (in fact his father, you should have ask him to sign a paper right away) changes his version when contacted by my insurance. Results: 50% fault on my part. The second one keeps his words and told my insurance. results: No fault for me, car repaired for free with rental while in repair.

In conclusion, when you have an accident in Canada, be nice with the other driver and try to make him sign a paper where he says this is his fault (if it is the case).

Believe it or not, we picked our 2009 Rogue up Saturday. Stopped to get a bite to eat and on the way home hit a deer doing 55mph. Had it less than 3 hours and less than 50 miles on the speedo. luckily I just tagged the back end of the deer and all it did was scuff the paint and pop the plastic bumper cover loose on the passenger side. Good thing the dealer scheduled it in for a finnish buff a few days later.

Good thing it wasn't worse! Seen some write-offs up here in northern Alberta when someone hits a 1500 pound moose!

Did the deer survive?

I stopped caring...the wife seems to hit the garbage can weekly, no matter which side of the driveway I put it on....3 weeks ago, last week, and this morning I tucked it behind my car to give her a straight shot out of the driveway, she turns to enter the roadway and hits it anyway!

May be she doesn't like it... the garbage can . Ask her if she wants you to change it.

More seriously, did you consider a back up camera (wide angle back up camera)? May be it could help.

I put backup sensor on my Rogue and find it really handy and will put a back up camera on my new wife lease (after consideration, she thinks it is a good idea, lots of kids in the neighborhood and we have a 18 month old baby starting to running around). With the design of modern cars, you need this kind of stuff more and more.

I believe it did. It was dark out and I did catch a glimpse of the tail running off. About a half second sooner and it would have come over the hood.

Be lucky she only hits garbage cans. With one of my wifes previous cars she backed out and caught the front fender on the side of the garage. Moved the whole wall a good 6 inches.
